Agree it'll be more popular than the Wii U. Whether it outdoes the gamecube has yet to be determined. I think it's way too expensive right now, which is its biggest problem. But a price cut would save that. GC was slashed to $99 a year after launch, which is the only reason it didn't do Wii U numbers itself.

Again, I think that's because demand is going to be very front heavy. Imagine you have 20 million or so diehards. If you distribute them over 4 years you might have 5 million who bought hardware launch year, the next year, the year after that, etc. But those same 20 million, there might be 10 million or more who decided to buy a Switch in launch year because usually it takes a year for a Nintendo hardware to have any games worth mentioning. Not the case with the Switch. But you're still only courting the same 20 million either way, so while demand looks very high right now, it will probably tank sharply if what I'm saying is true.

Well sure, but supply has been very low there. I think only 1.3 million were supplied of the global 5 million shipped when that report was made, which is far less than a 3rd of global supply at that time. Nintendo has been significantly undersupplying the Japanese market because dedicated consoles (including handhelds) have been doing poorly there as of late, since most people have gone to mobile. It's actually the world's biggest mobile games market.

I mean, consider the 3DS, which is Nintendo's worse selling handheld, sold 20 million units in Japan. 1.3 million isn't very many, so for them to sell out instantly doesn't mean anything. It just means they're undersupplied

fact of the matter is, they're not exactly a standard company, with all of the restrictions they self-impose, and impose on third parties participating through their platform, it's not surprising at all to think they'd do something so fiscally irresponsible.

At this point I think it's safe to say it'll at least outsell the N64. Past that though, it'll depend on cheaper hardware revisions and a good stream of software.
