They're like 30 minutes or an hour of forced slow story shit starting with Oblivion. Obsidian tried to fix it with New Vegas by making the intro just a stat set up like it should be, but once Bethesda got Fallout back they went right back to their bullshit. Even having a simple stat set up intro in modern Bethesda games would be pointless though because of how little they seem to matter. Its maddening.

Fuck Skyrim. Infinite quests aren't a bonus, they're a detriment. Games have to have ends. If the game never ends, where's the sense of accomplishment in beating it? Dragons will still always be there, no matter what I do. What's the point? Why can I only bring in 3 recruits when the entire point is to make the blades great again?

It was like this in Fallout 4 with the 'ANOTHER SETTLEMENT NEEDS OUR HELP' bullshit. How am I supposed to feel accomplished when the settlements will literally NEVER be safe, and no matter what I do it makes 0 difference? How am I supposed to build a world and immerse myself in it when all of my efforts are inconsequential? Depends on how creative you can be with your interpretation of the quests you take. I made a sneaky Bosmer to play through the thieves guild questline and ended up with a pretty elaborate story because I took a wrong turn out of Helgen and just kept running.

See, I usually play fairly benevolent characters and it took a bit for me to get into the right mindset. Winding up in Markarth and getting thrown in Cidhna Mine did wonders for my character's cynicism with the world at large. By the time I got across the map he'd been shit on enough that he was more than willing to try and make the corruption work for him instead.

One of the problems is that the Blades hardly push you before outright throwing you out on your ass unless you kill Parthy. It might have been a more reasonable choice to players if they had laid the idea on you more gradually.

Thats not how you spell Nerevarine, he could jump from morrowind into skyrim, kill everyone in 1 minute, and jump back with no fuss.
The dragonborn can't even jump over a house, and he cant do mass killing because "this NPC is spezial, so you cant kill it" and there is no custom spells to do it.
Even if they dont actually kill them, they are just like a bear or a shitty crab, they keep them at bay every time they try to do something funny.
