The money system in 0 was wonky as fuck. Tying money to experience basically broke money completely. The amount you needed to unlock skills dwarfed the amount it cost to buy things so it never made you choose what to spend money on because of how much money the game had to shit on you to compensate for skill costs. I guess, to be fair, it would have broke the system anyway once you got to the real estate and hostess club minigames because those were also expensive but also lucrative at the same time and Mr. Shakedown was easy to exploit for more money than you could know what to do with but I feel like real estate, Club Sunshine, and especially Mr. Shakedown were partially products of the money=XP system. They had to be there and had to work that way in order to facilitate and try to balance the XP system. The problem is that it made money feel completely trivial as actual money and it made filling your inventory with weapons and healing items far too easy right from the beginning. I still loved the game but I'd rather not see that mechanic return ever and would instead prefer the tradition of keeping skill points and cash separate.

1 could've been good. What kills me is why the fuck does Dead Souls feel more like a proper sequel to Y2 than the entire series does? Y3-Y5 doesn't even feel like it's part of the same continuity as Y1 & Y2. Y6 feels like an more different continuity from the previous two. The real test of Y6 is seeing how Kiwami 2 turns out. I'm not that anon, but I kept playing them to see ever they ever become as great as Y2. They never do. Dead Souls was ironically the only one that feels like a sequel to Y2 most likely due to Ryuji. It also helps that Majima is still a crazy motherfucker in Derp Souls, and not the raging Kiryu fanboi faggot that he is in the main series ever since Y4.

Derp Souls also had a far less needlessly obtuse story. Y3 - Y6 are filled with ridicolous milkman conspiracies.

I started with 0 then played every game since. I am only 5 minutes into Kiwami but I am really hype and I love it and respect it for what it is. I can't wait to get those Yakuza 6 glasses though.

Huh. I hope I'm just doing something wrong, and the damage output isn't gonna be this low for the whole game, then. There were only two environmental weapons to use Heat moves with, and the fact that he could regain half a lifebar with that Climax mechanic at a time when you almost certainly can't use Kiwami finishers is total bullshit. It took me forever to take him out.

But now that I think about it, I didn't actually try to throw him. Since he re-used Mr. Shakedown's move set, I figured it wasn't worth trying. Whoops.

Did any of the games get a remaster port to the PS3/PS4 at somepoint, and is it easy to import/buy in general?
