To all you Star Citizen Fans: I can understand you getting invested in the game, there's nothing wrong with that. But can you not see the issue that some people might have with alot of the details surrounding this game?

First off, paying massive amounts of money for in-game ships. Now sure, you can argue that this isn't pay2win because you can get the ships in-game, but how long do you think it'll take to get enough money to purchase one of those ships? How much grinding do you need to do to equal 10,000 dollars of american burgerbucks?

Second, the financial issues surrounding this game are suspicious. There are rumors that the company had to take out loans and is now owned by a bank (you don't take out a loan to get a tax rebate), there's screenshots of star citizen devs wasting thousands on trivial crap like coffee machines, doors, etc, and we still don't know where it's going.

Third, release-wise, I don't even know if this game will ever come out. How long has it been in development? Sure, good things take time. I won't doubt that. but a delayed game will not automatically be good, nor will it mean that it'll even come out. It just feels like you guys are paying for perma-early access.

>how much grinding do you

Probably less than everyone thinks. The whales are there to be milked and Chris is already cucking them at every turn. When they realize how little their money meant they will rage but it will be too late by then.

>rumors that the company had to

You don't understand finance or business ownership. Also the coffee machine was a donation. The "quote" for the door, given by an actual goon on the actual goon site after solid years of goon salt after Ben refused to let them jew their way into becoming a privileged class in the community, is hilariously highballed and you should feel eternal shame for falling for what is not even weak goon bait but weak goon attempts at comforting their own delusions

>how long has it been in

About half the time many AAA games with a third of its ambition have taken and a third of their total development time so far became immaterial because the crowdfunding meant they got more ambitious and scrapped their original work. So a comparatively short amount of time in development so far.

Now back to tenbux with you to give Lowtax his daily handjob and whisper to him that he is still relevant and the internet still remembers or cares about his website

Crowdfunding just doesn't work when there is so much money at stake. There is always has to be publisher that breaking balls, keep those devs in check and hold everyone accountable. Otherwise it's just "hey give us money, maybe there would be a thing, maybe not, see the rules, there is so much holes you can exploit, basically fraud is legal now". There no limits for anything.
>>
>>388619002
I think he means he hopes kickstarter would die down in popularity. Kickstarter is good but the masses are just too fucking stupid to not waste their money on pipe dreams. Scamcitizen was too big of an idea to be reasonable. Even if they deliver it will be spore 2.0, an insanely unpolished Frankenstein of ideas that will look like a coherent game from a distance but when you get close the truth is revealed.

The team probably could have made a great game if they didn't decide to shit the bed with gimmicks. I want the next freelancer or X game with good graphics, intuitive UI and AAA amounts of content. It would have been doable but nooooooooooo, they had to make their "dream game".

Are you not familiar with Chris Roberts or something? Freelancer was infamously long in development until Microsoft forced its release. It shows, too, the static economy really hurts the game.

There's been a ton of great Kickstarter stuff. Invest wisely, and don't raise your expectations sky-high, and you won't be disappointed.

Honestly, I don't think it's a scam. I think the guy's just really wants to make his game. The thing is, he doesn't want to stop making it until he's happy with it. And as proven by Freelancer, he's not easy to please. People praise the whole no publisher tying him down thing, but back then, publishers were the one who actually got him to stop fucking around and finish the game.

It's gonna fail. Or at least, it's gonna "release" with a fraction of the content its promised.

He's just keeps tacking more irrelevant bullshit like face capture while they still don't have a working Beta in SIXTH year of development. >>
Chasing PU multiplayer is a mistake, if they wanted all this fidelity with MP just make arena ship to ship combat game modes in rock belts or w/e. At least 64 player pvp would be entertaining with Idris' smashing into each other and suicidal EVA boarding. Trying to turn the game into a MMO like "living world" just bogged the production time and gives egg throwers tons of ammo when hurtles show up.
>>
>>388618173
It's absolutely a scam. Their income model right now is to release 3d models at ludicrous prices with the promise that there will eventually be a game to use them in. As long as they can keep people believing the latter, they get income from the former. They will continue to progressively decrease what is going to be in release during that time period until it's fucking nothing.
