It wasn't REALLY overheat dependent until they buffed it to 20%, so now you want to overheat every wildfire. It sounds harder than it is, but the job is pretty unforgiving and if you screw up your DPS goes bye-bye very fast. Frankly I think it's a pretty bullshit play style but your mileage may vary. Really though the amount of effort to get out what other jobs do when played averagely is just not worth it.

It's UI watcher the game, it watches their own dots, pretty much every team buff above 10% and Lit/Chain, their Song buff duration, their song's # of procs, the global tick timer, their MP bar, their low cd off-gcds. It's probably the most active class overall but its also the most straightforward of the roles. It isn't easy to be 100% at it though, same with most classes.

Its why I switched to WHM. Holy and the healing potency can carry bad leveling runs. I personally dubbed it the band-aid healer. Seriously pushing 25-30% of the parties overall damage and healing for huge numbers with minimal TP issues even with high cure spell spamming is crazy. However DPS and healing a SHIT run makes you run out of MP regardless be careful.

I hope WHM is at least 80% as good as it is in leveling content because this is fun.

I never played any other MMO for more than a few weeks, but haven't unsubbed from XIV in 4 years. Who you play with certainly adds to the enjoyment you may get out of it. I entered the game with zero friends, but my static is the reason why I still log in. Personally I do swiftcast B3 as we're getting close, B4 as they're getting close to stopping, then do something like... sharp f3 t4 (triple) flare flare (convert flare) transpose foul t4 b4 f3 flare flare etc...

Fire 2 is 144 potency without falloff. Flare is 468 potency with falloff. Foul is 650 potency with fallout. A Thunder 4 without a proc is 230 potency without falloff. A Thunder 4 proc is 410 potency without falloff, minus the amount of ticks you're clipping by doing it. (All of these being per target potency) It's really hard to find reasons to actually use Fire 2.

Even before level 68, the best aoe rotation is probably t2/4 f3 f2 flare transpose. While skipping the f2 if you double flare or start the rotation, since it's only there to put transpose off of cooldown.

usually parsing is done to get exact numbers or obtain a graph for later analysis. for dungeons graphs are useless and the numbers can vary really wildly based on how fast your tank goes, how much he pulls and how much the dps manage to bloat.
if you wanna know if your dps is good and everything is going at a good pace, you're probably better off paying attention to whether bosses die in a timely manner (i.e. this boss usually dies right after it casts X, see if it's still the case in your current run), whether the pulls seem to mysteriously take longer than usual, what everybody's MP/TP are etc.

On an individual level, not really that hard. Can't really skip or ignore mechanics but there's a lot of personal responsibility in each fight and thus it's pretty easy to call out who's fucking up for the most part. The problem is, of course, getting 7 other chuckle fucks to not fuck up or panic when somebody does fuck up. Most of the fights snowball pretty fast if you don't get a handle on it.

Yes there kind of is. If you have the target circle enabled, where you see the circle line the enemy can parry you, and where its broken (the rear) they can't.

Wait I'm not 100% sure honestly as I never play melee. I think they can only parry if you attack from the front. I think theres no downside to attacking from the flank or rear (well since they took out accuracy, I think you needed different accuracy values for front, flank and rear in descending order before)

When accuracy was still a thing, it used to be easier to hit from the rear and to a lesser extent, the sides. That was the reason tank stances provided an accuracy buff, to slightly counteract the fact that as a tank the enemies would be facing you most of the time. It seems that it's no longer really a factor with the changes to accuracy, but I couldn't really say for sure.

FFXIV raid gameplay is more refined and balanced. The lack of talents, tier sets, trinkets, etc, helps keep the jobs under control, and as a result, the raids always end up tuned pretty well.

WoW class balance devs and item devs don't talk to each other, and every tier is a complete tossup where your preferred class or spec is going to end up on the totem pole. They constantly get blindsided by a spec being significantly stronger than anything else, and then stacking that spec becomes a valid strategy to ignore early damage checks.

The current WoW encounter designers are retards, and they don't know how to make a fun fight. They only know how to increase numbers until something is so punishing that it's difficult. This shouldn't be that surprising since the shelf life on an encounter designer at Blizzard is less than 2 years, so they just constantly have new designers making the same old shit because they don't have any experience.
