If memory serves me right, patches have to go through vigorous testing by the console manufacturers, which can take a few weeks, while on Steam you can just send out the patch and it's updating for the owners of that game. The super transformation is currently mapped to the same button each character already uses for something else and overrides it. Sonic can't use shield abilities without turning super, Tails can't fly and Knuckles can't glide. Once you have all emeralds and collect 50 rings in a stage, you're forced to either go super or not use those abilities.

I'm talking about the atmosphere. Sonic 3K's levels feel far more immersive than any Sonic game. From how the music fits the stage/mood and even level design, to the way the art style is crafted, to the way the acts and zones transition off of one-another to how Robotnik and his robots effect each zone to how it ties in the story and how it affects the players mood etc. 3K is just on a whole other level when it comes to that

Very different levels. Carnival Night is going for a sort of "close after-hours Carnival" kind of feel so the music is more low-key. Collision Chaos music grabs you sooner with it's typical catchy sonic-style melodies but it's not really better than Carnival Night's music just different. To me they're at the same level

Tidal Tempest better than Hydrocity?

Besides the really ugly and out of place Carnival Night Sonic 3 definitely has a ongoing theme thing going for it which I really like. Every Zone has it's place like you're actually on some ancient Island (Okay maybe the Egyptian place was a little too much). Even some people who claim that's it's just a bastardisation of Laputa with furries.

It's something that 3 will always hold over Mania because it's overbalance on old Zones, disparity of the new level themes and technically being set on 3 different Islands (And a planet).
