Are you ready to play the skeleton master race in the greatest CRPG of the decade?

I still haven't decided. Going to play through it with a buddy and he is MOST LIKELY going to play a shapeshifter since that's his favorite type of character in games. Are the skeletons religious zealots like in Dragon Commander? If so, maybe skeleton paladin. If not, torn between human thief or wizard. Played a thief in DOS1 which started strong but got kinda suckier the later shit went on so I'm leery about doing it again.

Necromancer seems to be focused on physical damage for whatever reason. My personal experience with it in the EA version is that it (with the exception of one spell) is fucking shit, but it might change once you actually gain access to non-basic abilities.
Summoners are pretty underwhelming in their current state, it feels like they mostly provide free meat shields. Once again it's probably going to change once you get access to more abilities but I remain sceptical. One of the devs said that the current version of the incarnate (one of the summoning monsters) is the 'basic' version that gradually gets stronger but since I haven't seen that I can't comment on it.
Polymorph is probably the best school of the three you listed though mostly for utility reasons. It has some pretty good all-around spells.
>>
>>388562461
Casters were never OP, neither in DOS 1 nor DOS 2. They're even weaker this time and except for teleport next to useless since Magic Armor is a thing and thefore they're not even used as CC machines.

CC was their only job in DOS 1 and now they don't even have that.

Why would you even think that?

The stories are next to completely seperated and DOS 2 plays like 1000 years after the first part. Your characters in the first game were literally source hunters and the second game is all about being a sourcerer and using and understanding source. Not even importing stats/skills would make sense. They completely revamped how the system works.

>>

They increased the amount of writers by around 400% and are aiming for a more consistent depiction of the world and lore.

It's still a Larian Game at heart and yes it will be full of fun and jokes. So if you're looking for muh mature grimshit it's still not the right game for you. Tho it definitely aims for a more realistic and grounded world.

Origin stories add character goals and quests as additional content in the game. So yes, you won't have your "own" questline but you won't miss out on the actual story.

However, it is possible to "hire" the origin characters as companions and basically you can still experience their origin story from an outside perspective.

Not him, but I kinda get it. The second town is really a step down from the first - where every building felt reactive and had something to see. On the other hand, you weren't meant to spend as much time in the second as you were the first, so how valid the complaint is is up for grabs. It's something you notice though.
>>
>>388567175
We have, it's just fucking boring. People assumed it would be based around like, summoning undead and elementals but it turned out to be summoning turrets on surfaces to shoot more of that surface.

Using magic to transform bodyparts into something else or grow new ones. For example, can grow hawk wings and fly around a bit or do super jumps. Can turn your arm into an octopus tentacle and pull someone to you. Bullhorns for charging across the map.

When I reached the second town I started to notice a big increase in technical and optimization problems. Lots of bugs and glitches I never encountered in the first town. You also see areas like pic related. There are crypts in both sides but there is nothing in them. They look different than the rest, like it was a discarded quest or puzzle but you cant even reach them unless you use a teleportation trick. There is also that magician village with the 2 talking elemental summon guards. That place has an entire prison with NPCs with unique names and an Orc but there is nothing to do there.

It was just very noticeable for me. First town everywhere I went there was something to find or do.
>>

By the time of Divinity 2, all of the elves, dwarves, and dragons have died out. It's a bleak future.

But I just rewatched the awful cinematics of Beyond Divinity and you were right about one thing: Lucien was still alive until Damien's return at the end. So this game takes place between BD and D2.

They each have racial abilities and NPC dialogue and options are heavily influenced by race. Some people will refuse to help x race, others will only help y race. Others will only tell z race extra information about something.

Well, going by the events of Divine Divinity, Lucien was the second Divine anyways, right? The prologue was the original conclave of the 7 Races (6 + Wizards), to do the ritual and defeat the invading army of darkness. Then DD is spent recreating the ritual.

Doing it a third time doesn't seem so far-fetched.

No idea though to any of your questions. I am refusing to play the beta, but I thought it's been announced that Lucien is dead by DOS2. If in-game he is "missing," then he has most definitely been DAMIAN'd.

I think that's been removed. The EE was the first time in any Divinity game that all item drops from chests and such are pre-determined the first time you load the map. I'd assume they are keeping that system into DOS2.

Another anon here:
Except you do need to use the Teleportation spell to reach the right area of the tomb because the floor is booby trapped with an istant kill move.
That small area have a few g ravestones and all it contains is random loot, like they were planning to add shit in it and it had to be dropped.
You shouldn't see only that way, look Sacred Stone, a sort of mix between Cyseal and Silverglen:
That area has a fully fledged prison with various uniquely named characters that you can talk and interact, all of this it would scream to quest to free these prisoners but there isn't.
You can wonder the city, talk with the "boss" and interact with other immaculates for filler informations but they offer no purposes. Remove the village, prison and its people inside and it wouldn't impact you, the game or the story _at all_.
Silverglen gets to know the immaculate and join them for the main story, interact with the mayjor and ask help to clear the mines by the imps plus a few other smaller quests that make it not feel dry and boring.

Sacred Stone have nothing at all, it's only the city in between you and the Bairtodr's quest.
And for the book that let you handle Tenebrium if you haven't done a specific quest at Silverglen.

Late reply, but Lucien's only son is Damien, the Deceiver and literal son of the devil (Lucien adopted him at the end of DD in hopes of containing his evil, and upon realizing that he couldn't, banished him to Nemesis). If they are calling Alexander his son in DOS2, then that's big papa D in disguise.

In DivOS, the main inventory was endless (to Encumberance), so the bags were completely optional. Personally, I just used them for organization, like throwing all poison/oil barrels in one bag, and all my ores in one bag, etc.

They were also good for throwing at people. A 200 lb bag full of rocks thrown via telekinesis at someone's face did massive damage, for a scant 2AP each throw.

Other people skipped the bag entirely and just chucked the biggest thing around that they could find, like the 500 lb beer keg in pic related.

it was an exclusive in the sense that Larian didn't initially develop the game for multiple platforms, but that was because of budget, not because an exclusivity contract; which is good, because it ended up being a pretty good console port

>let him feed on the kid intentionally
>let him feed on you, at the cost of dropping your HP to almost dead, and more importantly permanently dropping a random amount of attributes from your character

I find that weird, maybe its and EE vs original thing but personally I found Act 2's pacing all over the place, a big step down from cyseal and the game basically threw me into hiberheim before I'd spent 10 minutes in luculla, they probably shouldn't have included that mushroom with the barrier removal spell outside her house and forced you to at least talk with the immaculates and make a deal to get inside the barrier
>>

My approach for the game was very soon: First get to someplace with information and figure out whats going on and what to do, then actually act.

Then the game became 100% more enjoyable for me. But you are right, everything after Act 1 was a huge step down for me. And I have seen so many people dropping the game because they couldnt figure out a good order in Act 2.

Also its kind of a shame that the game pretends that you can choose the order yourself, but in truth anything thats not the optimal order will just make the game boring for you by fighting overleveled or underleveled opponents.

This was part of my problem (or it was the question my friend and I had when we stopped playing). The entire game seemed very good at the whole (enemies = your level) = intended direction, mostly because more than a few levels above and enemies seemed to end up insanely powerful (mostly because there's lots of them).

We got through act 1 okay, but after the cave system with all the unkillable suits of armour we seemed to be underleved and not sure where to go next. And by the time we did catch up we ran into a spider queen or something that was STILL 1 level above us and we thought we must have missed something/locked ourselves into being permanently under leveled.

I still feel this too. Honestly, the new guy is surprisingly good. He takes great pride in his work, has an obvious passion, and he his work is all his own, meaning he isn't trying to replicate or piggy-back on Kirill's work. He even brought some interesting ideas to the plate, like theme song/instruments that blend into the ongoing theme at key moments for characters, to make it feel like "their moment."

But for all that, it isn't the same. Even his live orchestra homage to Power Of Innocence doesn't carry quite the same.

Sort of
Skills like blacksmithing and crafting have been removed if I recall correctly. You no longer need to level up some skill in order to craft something.
Pickpocketting+Lockpicking is now "Thievery", a 'civic skill' that you level up seperately from combat skills. Basically when you level up you'll some times get a skill point to put into the magic schools such as pyromancy, necromancy etc and a different point to put into the civic skills such as thieving, leadership, bartering etc.

I thought skeletons were limited to human bodies. Thanks for letting me know
>>
>>388610291
Btw you don't have to get The Troll's Ore, you can safely play the mines and get your ore there.
PS: He will take the bag with everything in it, so leave only one piece of ore and give the rest fo Bair as she's immune to Rot

You actually don't have to fight the trolls if you have Pet Pal. If you solve a couple of earlier pet-related quests in the right way, you'll be able to have an Australian rabbit distract the troll king by shitposting at him so you can sneak in and steal the ore.

I swear I'm not making this up.

I have already finished the mines and I'm not sure I can return as they collapsed. Also, is tenebrium required to kill void demons? I stumbled upon a bridge near Sacred Stone that brings you to the other zone where Zixzags tells you need to deal with demons using tenebrium. I just loaded save before encountering this but would like to know if they are killable with other means. I really don't want to deal with crafting. It was fine at the start but now everything is just so bloated I can't find 2 and 2 to put together.

Why do you people react so strongly to turn based? I can understand you not liking it due to personal taste but whats always with this pretension that turn based is inherently worse than anything else?
>>
>>388596719

Well hey, maybe one of the romance options is a necrophile.
>>
>>388614561
do you mean the zone with lava past the desert?
i think that's the only zone where you need tenebrium damage

No, I mean the bridge near Sacred Stone village at the eastern edge of the map, which leads to a separate area. It is probably somehow related to a main quest, so I just put it on hold for now until I finish with exploring the rest of act 2.

is divinity original sin good? I am fucking bored as hell right now, literally no games.

I enjoyed it immensely and many others did, but it isn't for everyone. Go poke around youtube for gameplay videos and see if the combat and the non-combat are both up your ally.
>>
>>388614561
Tenembrium damage is only needed a mandatory to destroy a small object that Zizzax ask you to do (upper left of Luculla forest)
I really suggest to do that asap as it block upgrading your homestead.

>>388615020
It is in the act 2, you are forced to do as it's related to main quest: no upgrade of homestead = no final mission

you can bring just one weapon, even 10 damage tenebrium is fine, if you got some tenebrium bars (crafted from ores using a furnace and you can collect them at the king troll's cave too) you can infuse them in a weapon and be good to go.

I've gotten all but one of those - vampire, I think. How do you get that one? Let the traveler fuck her for a night? Bargain with the demon? Those are the only two options I never picked, iirc.
>>
>>388615772
>Let the traveler fuck her for a night?
What the... Who would choose something like this?
>>
>>388615884
She's dying and he offers a cure - for a price, of course. I think you can also pay him for some costly amount of gold instead, but good look not losing if you pay it that early into the game/battlemap.

You can also refuse him altogether, which is where the other options come from (imp robo body, bodyswapping a deathrow prisoner, hacking together a flesh cover for the robo body to help her feel more "alive" instead of cold).
>>
>>388615772
>How do you get that one?
Make her human then she whines about immortality again.
Then you get an option to her a vampire but the personality will have a 180° change.
