>>
I think Creation Club is a great idea, it means we'll keep getting DLC that will all have to be to spec, work together and because of financial incentives and alpha, beta stages we'll get it faster and better quality than if it were left up to modders.

What's not to like?
>>
What do bethesdabux equate to in people money?

How many USD is 50 bethesdabux? Any number you tell me will be insulting because how dare Bethesda ask me to pay money for a fucking texture swap, but I want to know exactly how insulted to be.

1USD equals to 50 Bethesda's Creation Club Credits (3C). You can use 3C to buy any and all mods for sale on Creation Club website. While it's not a store, there will be frequent sales on both popular and more obscure mods.

Then what started the concept of DLC? Expansions pack were always supposed to be "game" 1.5, when Horse armor came out every was laughing saying "haha this will never become the new standard, this will never replace expansion packs!"

Years later, look in Steam store how many games have small cosmetic DLCs, Saint's Row or Tomb Raider for example. There's huge possibility if we let this shit happen (I mean if people will spend MONEY on it) it will catch on and other devs will start doing this shit.

Realistically, how would this affect the free-mod scene for TES6?

Editing/working on game files isn't something that this prevents in any means, as far as I can tell. Surely we'll lose some potentially good mods to this system, but I can't imagine every single person on nexus(or loverslab) going over to it.

It'll probably fly better on consoles, but I really just don't see it happening on PC. They'd have to some drm-esqe shit hard coded in the game or something that could only allow shit from the creation crap, which seems implausible.
>>
>>388540014
I would wager they won't even bother releasing mod tools for the next TES because they'll be scared it'll cut into their paid mod profits.

>>
>>388540014
Modding is already dying down. The guys behind script extender have real life shit so they cant work on it. Bethesda also has made the modding tools more tedious to work with, not releasing documentation of any kind. Like custom animations for weapons in Fallout 4 was stumbled upon accidentally, no one knew that you could do it.

Bottomline is that without script extender the modding skene will be dead because its just so limited what you can do with what bethesda intends you to work with.
>>
>>388540356

>>

You don't believe something as significant as tes6 would revitalize it by any degree?

If nothing else, the Bethesda fallout/tes are considered the primary games to mod, especially skyrim. I don't know if the same guys would make skse for tes6, but certainly someone will.

you think you can escape this? that this won't "catch on"? you poor, stupid, if optimistic, motherfuckers. Bethesda has committed to this initiative in earnest now, a couple of months ago the testing of waters giving only lukewarm protest. You should have gone nuclear, but there was only a peter of a boycott talked about and then it vanished. But no, really, this is the future now, and i'm sure there are top fucking minds over at bethesda figuring out a way to make mods as difficult to implement without CC access as possible, while also making custom mod drm.

The jewing has barely even begun, soon if not already, they'll start eyeing up nexus as a "potential partner". mod tools you need to subscribe to use will be the only way to upload a mod anywhere, and only if you have a valid tools license AND creation club premium creator's membership or some shit. This isn't some doomsday prophecy, this is shit we already see coming down the pipes, so open wide motherfuckers, todd's already got his pants off
>>
>>388540887
there arent many guys around who can disassemble the engine code and rebuild it. They also said on Redit that for Oblivion and skyrim script extender they got help from bethesda with E-mails. This dried up when Special Needs version was unveiled.

I know it will seem like i'm shilling paid mods, but please bear with me for now:

At first I was a bit skeptical about the whole Creation Club announcement but when I read through their official website, it seems like this is a way for them to try and improve mods and
actually make them better.

They will have quality control, collaboration between the game devs and the mod authors and a bunch of other procedures and guidelines.

I can't wait for the exciting new mods that will come out from this system. Its gonna bring polish and better integration for mods as a whole.

I am really excited.

Some bloke will buy popular mods, rip them from his HDD, and upload it for people to download through an ad;link. The number of clicks will pay for the cost of buying the mod and might even fund the next purchase the bloke makes

I fear this is inevitable. They will skip it in somewhere like consoles. Then they will give the option for it or have some "premium" reviewed content that will be allowed to do it. Then they'll just blanket roll it out.

If you are are not making mods for free, you should not make them at all. They are community content, passion projects.. not something I'm going to spend money on.

No, as actual people who are on Bethesda payroll and make content that gets added to the base game of their next title.

This current system that they are suggesting is a big 'fuck you' to the consumer. Sure the Bethesda and modders like it, but what about the people who like running 100-150 mods in Skyrim and don't want to pay 200-500 dollars in the future to do so.

This. Modding started when a fan of something said 'this is great, but I think I could add more to it' and then went and did it. Never did the thought 'I could change the game's base content and get paid for it' occur.

The advent of virtual tip jars is what ultimately lead to jews coming along thinking 'why ask for donations when I can just demand money?'
>>
The main problem is that there is practically no new generation of competent modders, mainly due to games being locked down to the point of inmoddability with always online, launchers, lack of dedicated servers, drm, microtransactions, etc, and because they rather go and make their own game from scratch (and usually fail under the scope of it).
So we are left with mostly modeller-texturer only guys, who wont be able to break whatever lock the devs gonna put up on quality mods (like the ever increasing need for script extenders due to weaker and weaker official modding tools and utter lack of documentation), and slowly but surely this will be a norm and an even more incompetent new generation will be bought up to whom free modding will be an alien concept.

Much like the death of flash games thanks to mobile microtransaction shits.

It's not like they say anything about the list being exhaustive, but I guess it says something about their priorities. The shitty armor and weapon mods they advertise with wouldn't require much QA, and it's easier to trick people into buying overpriced micro-DLC than overpriced DLC with actual content. So you'd expect them to focus on those mods if they just want to extract easy money for little effort.
>>

>>388542294
This. There's no way I'm ever buying another Bethesda game if they really keep trying to push this. Their games are infinitely better with mods, the community always saves their half-finished titles after the fact. So now Bethesda expects us to not only pay them for an unfinished, buggy mess, and for the mods other people make to fix their game? Nah man...that's just one of the most absolutely disgusting models I've ever seen. I refuse to be part of it
>>
>>388549790
It amounts to essentially the same: We get shitty overpriced content, at the expense of free mods. It's up for debate exactly how much free mods will be affected by modders abandoning their projects to work for Bethesda, but it's definitely a negative effect, regardless of exact magnitude. That makes this whole deal a net loss for anyone who are not interested in buying content from the Creation Club (i.e. reasonable people).
>>
>>388551564
>freelancers
Nigga if you don't shut all the way the fuck down with that bullshit. This is not "freelancers" getting work for Bethesda. This is capitalism sinking it's fucking claws into your hobby and ripping it to pieces. They're looking at something that has been free since before fucking DOOM came out and trying to create a secret club money funnel to sucker in mark-ass teenagers, young adults, and autists (which I say with love, as autists make some of the best mods) into doing their work for them at a microcosm of the cost.

It is properly moddable, what are you talking about?
The entire reason you don't see fleshed out mods is because 1 it's a re-release late into the lifecycle, and 2 it requires a hefty amount of work to update current tools for basically nothing
the skse fags arent even around anymore its some new fatties who haven't updated in months
>>
>>388551564
Because they're attempting to monetize what people have been doing as a hobby? Along with suddenly no longer talking to the SE makers, hiding game files and making their games more of a hassle to mod, it's almost like they are trying to start forcing out competition.
