Tactics.

I liked every FF I've played but the best is V IMO. Easily the best gameplay in the series and the characters are great too.

All the Final Fantasy Legend games even if they're not actually part of the franchise
I think most of them are okay but these are my preferences.

VI. Cool setting, tons of charm, great story, music, character and atmosphere. Has everything.

Honestly, I feel like the most popular (VII and X) are the most balanced, well-crafted games that can appeal to the widest audience. That said my personal top 3 is IX, VI and XII.
IX and VI for the atmosphere and artstyle, XII for a bit of everything, but its biggest draw to me was the world.
