Wario land 2, you can jump higher by pressing up + A, but you can achieve the same thing by double jumping, so I never knew that or needed that, until a part of the game where you shrink and HAVE to make a up+A jump because you can't double jump when you're small.

Pokemon Ruby. Had just cleared Slateport city and was ready to move onto the next zone. Only way forward was on the bike way, but I didn't have a bike yet. I bummed around for like weeks thinking I'd missed something earlier in game. Eventually found out you just walk underneath the bike way.

This has happened to me multiple times in multiple playthroughs.

It will probably happen the next time I play the game. Something about that puzzle is poorly designed.

That part in Phantom Hourglass where you had your map in the bottom screen and an imprint at the top screen.
>Had to close the ds physically while on this state to place the map on the imprint
Fuck this came without any past similar situation or instruction, in the middle of the game.
Lost so many hours going by myself to the spot on the map and trying to fish the item, but no, had to do the closing thing. I got it one day out of coincidence, since I closed my ds to go somewhere while the map was on.

The first Rayman game there's a level in Picture City where you have to run into a bounce platform and jump through a bunch of sharp pencils. At the start of tomb raider legend theres the seesaw puzzle in pic related.

Basically, you have to weigh down one side of the see saw with a box, jump on the other side and propel the box up on to the ledge.

I weighed down the seesaw with the box and tried to jump, hit the top of the other side of the seesaw but it wouldnt move. I spent hours trying to find another box, trying to go to other rooms to find an item, trying to mess around with the seesaw but nothing would work.

My friend bought tomb raider legend at the same time as me but was completely confused as to why i couldnt do it and told me he just jumped off the ledge on to the seesaw like i did.

It turned out that you have to jump from the right angle from the platform to trigger a unique animation (that looks very similar to the normal animation) of lara jumping on to the seesaw to catupult the box that isnt used AT ALL in the rest of the game or ever again. Really shitty design. Instead of using actual physics for the puzzle they just use a trigger for the animation to play when you jump.

I was stuck there for about 2 hours.

In an early alundra dungeon there is a puzzle that asks you to place 4 rocks on a floor panel. You are just supposed to stack all 4 rocks on top of each other on the panel. Hollow knight, reached a bunch of shitty bouncing mushrooms(basically no high on the bounce) and a wall too high. Thought I needed an upgrade I didn't have yet and left

Ended up exploring literally everything else that I could, with every path now requiring some sort of an upgrade. I came back to the mushrooms, caved in and looked it up

Turns out you could slash down in the game, and if you slash down on the bouncy mushrooms, you can fly over the wall. Fuck me
>>
>>388523126

Not really, it's just everytime the option was given to you I saw no real reason to not read the documents since they were interesting and since you'd be skipping all the dialogue you've seen already you'd accidentally select "Read the Documents" when you probably didn't want to.

In your mind, reading the documents would be beneficial than not reading them, so really there is no reason to NOT read them when given the chance since it could be the clue to getting out of the room. The only reason you wouldn't read them would be if you take your time, and know you've read them several times and know it does nothing.

I imagine it was something you're meant to do on the second playthrough, since the game has a time traveling device so you'd go back to the room again, and not read the documents, but it still seems weird to only give the player the important item if they DON'T choose to read the documents.

I've been stuck on this fucking part for 25 years. It was my very first game I got and I still can't beat this fucking level, specifically the first double jump.

why didn't you just deliberately lose all your pokemon so you'd get taken out of the cave then go and get flash like a normal person

How? The entrance is huge and pretty much visible entirely from when you leave the boss room. Did you have camera issues?

I recently played through Shadow Warrior Classic. I've never had a problem with the level design from Duke and Blood, but I got lost constantly. I still had a blast. I'm psyched for Ion Maiden.

I ended up pitting its moves against an online 5-in-a-row bot. Such a comfy game ruined.

The statue/park level in goldeneye for the N64. I wanna say board 13?

the mission objective was to confront some other character at the end of the park. apparently this meant to unequip your weapons and go unarmed before hitting that trigger.

never did finish that game, by the time i found out i never wanted to play a single-stick FPS again.

Always just the most brain dead shit. I overanalyze everything as soon as I'm not sure what to do, and the solution is usually something like clicking on the keypad instead of the door.

I spent a good week or two stuck in Celadon City because I couldn't figure out how to get past the guard.

It's okay, I got out in the end. Then I got stuck on Brock because I only ever used Pikachu. For years whenever I restarted I'd grind all the way until Pikachu was at level 20 before taking on Brock.

The only times I got stuck in games was when I had the right idea but the game's definition of how this idea should be executed was retarded.
Like when you just need to shoot something, but it only registers from a retarded angle.

I didn't find the second bonfire in Sen's Fortress, so every time I died I had to do the whole tower again, so I stopped unhollowing in case I died on the way up, so I wasn't able to summon Tarkus to stom the Iron Golem for me.

I started to think Golem was a puzzle fight, I tried getting the giants to kill him with those exploding cannon balls, then spent some time trying to get the Golem trying to knock down the bricks in the back of the arena thinking it was an obviously covered up door.

I sure was pissed later on when I found out that door was cut content.

>>
>>388533584
>>388539709
I did the same, but on purpose. I replayed the gen 1 games so often that at one point I figured it would be more interesting if I went through the rock tunnel with a pokemon that could use flash but never turned it on. It was more of a challenge but I made it through just by bumping against things and seeing what could dimly be made out.

In RE2 when playing as Claire you have to detonate the wall near the helicopter I just couldnt find the spot to use the bomb on. I literally went through every single pixel wondering why the fuck it just wouldn't work. Turns out I should have COMBINE Detonater + Plastic Bomb. It just didn't make any sense to me at the time, I thought I'd have to use the bomb, walk around the corner and use detonator.

Dude, as a kid I refused to teach a useless move like flash to my Pokémon, so I ended up memorizing the cave for later playthroughs...I got stuck so many times in that game. I had issues beating Brock till I realized you can get a Nidoran to learn double kick at lvl 12. Then I missed out on the bike because I never talked to the old fan club guy to get a free one. i think i had tried the game 5 years earlier and had a similar experience, only i got stuck in Sun

using the games manual to find the Grail isnt bad though, it's literally the intended solution. they expect you to read it, especially when it says "do all of guidance first". im big on not using a guide for LM too, i didnt use one and i think its definitely doable if youre patient and take diligent notes, but the manual is part of the devs design so i always tell people not to ignore it

that being said i explored too early without it too and got stuck behind a weighted wall in Spring in the Sky and had to grind for a drop.

anyway the stupidest thing i got stuck on in any game was also in la mulana because i didnt realize a vine near the end of the game was climbable so i sat there for like an hour looking for an alternate path

I reached that part at 3-4am and my exhausted mind convinced itself that I had tried both the correct spelling and switching E and A. Thinking the game was glitched or I was a moron, I tried other words and then tried to bruteforce it. Sleep is the key to strong thought anons.
>>
>>388543281
Sorry, meant to add I maxed out the timer before chapter 1. Honestly it was my first big rpg that I completed and I had little reference for games at that time, so I figured the whole game was just the prologue and toad town
