I've never played half life 1 or 2. Are they good? Have they aged well?
>>388497202
Play them in order,
1 is the best
2 has not aged well.
>>388497202
They're amazing and they've aged very well.
>>388497247
i totally agre with anon
play 1 and then opossing force and then 2
HL1 is a great shooter, HL2 is a techdemo for old tech.
>>388497202
Play Opposing Force after HL1 as well.
Also be sure to play the original, HL:Source is a terrible port which is buggy and shittier.
>>388497202
yes, no, shut the fuck up and play the game.
>>388497401
>>388497427
and Blue Shift, anons
>>388497427
What he said. HL Source is garbage
>>388497427
>>388497535
>Half-Life: Source
>>388497703
Uh, what happend here? I see new models and textures to Gold Source ported half-life source?
>>388497905
Graphics set to the lowest.
>>388497408
I agree with this, but ep 1 & 2 are phenomenal. And the ending part of 2 (don't want to spoil for op, but we all know what I'm talking about right?) Is well worth playing
>>388498041
>ep1
>anything but garbage
Anon, you are delusional, it was a boring mess.
>>388497247
>1 is the best
I agree, though I don't know if it's just nostalgia shaping my opinion since I have better memories of one than two. Had a lot of fun playing one.
>>388498041
Damn well worth it... i want ep3/hl3
>>388498274
Valve only makes esports now, along with running a store.
Fuck man, I remember the co-op mode that was on the PS2 version, cant remember the name, but it was dope as fuck.
>>388498246
its like 250mb im pirating it right now to replay it

>>388497202
Absolutely. There will be people who overemphasize one over the other, but the series overall is fantastic, with Episode 1 and Blue Shift being the weakest (though still great). I like 2 a bit more than 1 but really it boils down to preference.
>>388497202
I personally like them both but HL1 is better
I literally know zero people who play in their PCs and who have never played Half Life or any variant of said game.
It's like, one of those games you have to play before you die man, like what the hell.
>>388497202
Play and see for yourself, if you own them, just do it, if you don't, buy, if dislike refund, if like, play
>>388497247
Maybe I am just a nostalgia fag, but I feel all of them have aged perfectly, maybe not graphically in HL1.
>>388497247
How can you say 1 its the best when the only thing you do for the most part of the game is plataforming and being enclosed in the nonsensical labyrinth that is black Mesa.
>>388497202
I replay HL2 at least once a year and I still enjoy it. It probably won't have the same effect on you because you won't have nostalgia. Just remember that in 2004, this shit was amazing.
>>388500445
Far Cry and F.E.A.R. were better
>>388497247
this.
I always enjoyed 1 more and it holds up really fucking well. I liked the idea and atmosphere of being trapped in an underground lab trying to get the fuck out more than half life 2's setting
>>388500516
Untrue. You just liked them more.
>>388500609
not him but FEAR is definitely better from a gameplay standpoint
Far Cry isnt better than half life at all though
>>388497202
HL1 is superior gameplay-wise. HL2 & episodes are superior in terms of story and level design, but the gameplay is still far from bad.
ps. the Black Mesa guys did a great job of modernizing HL1, it definitely feels different than the original, but not in a bad way. would certainly recommend.
>>388497483
>finally get a pistol
>shoot friendly
>game over
They really had fun with those game over screens.
>>388497401
>opposing force
The last good thing to come out of Gearbox!
>>388501378
Halo's pc port was pretty good.
>>388503349
hahaha
