I've been having gaming fatigue. There's all these classic games that I missed out on while growing up that I want to play, like Metal Gear Solid games, Devil May Cry, Spyro games, Ratchet and Clank series, Nintendo classics like the Zelda franchise and Paper Mario games, etc., but they're all kind of dead memes desu. It feels horrible to say, but the consensus seems to be that "these games were great!", so there's nothing new that I, as a gamer, will get out of them or will be able to contribute to the discussion. I know that's a fucked up attitude because it's like, "why can't I just enjoy games on their own merits for my own personal enjoyment? Why do I have to play them for the memes?"

I guess I played multiplayer games as a kid, like Star Wars Battlefront, and Halo, and so I pay attention to new games because I'm kind of hoping to recapture that experience. The only problem is I have no friends lol. So playing the latest games to be able to discuss them is sort of my meta-substitute for a multiplayer experience now. Pyre is great, I really enjoyed that.

The Ratchet and Clank series is the one game series I'm most keenly interested in going back to, but otherwise, I kind of just wait for new releases that catch my eye. Currently I'm waiting for Mario Odyssey, Ace Combat 7, and Biomutant

Stop buying games because you feel like you "have to" play them because others told you they were good. Buy games you are genuinely interested in. Stop playing multiplayer games where you find yourself being more angry or annoyed than you do happy simply because it's easy to play and it's something you've always played. Don't feel bad about replaying a game if it's something you enjoy. If you're not having fun playing something there's no shame in not playing it and simply admitting it's not your thing.

No one talks about those games except to say how great they are and nostalgia fagging over them. Most of those games they don't even talk about: Metal Gear and Zelda are the only relevant ones anymore.
Everyone talks about games like FFXV, BOTW, Splatoon 2, Monster Hunter World, Destiny 2, FFXIV, Mario Rabbids, etc. because they're new and relevant, and they are fun to talk about ... but in 2 years people will forget most of those and we'll be talking about the next big games: the hot memes.

I could play Ratchet and Clank, and be in a small subset of people who have played them, but if I enjoyed them, I'd still be an outsider in the "ratchet and clank fans" category because I didn't grow up with them, and nobody talks about them, so I wouldn't be able to share my excitement of how I enjoyed them with other people really. And it's people my age who played them, and they're all growing up and probably getting out of gaming as new generations come in to get addicted to the gaming jew.

Sorry to go all blackpilled, but the gaming fatigue has hit me hard.

I've been playing Metal Gear 2 and Alundra recently.
Haven't gotten far in MG2 yet. All I did was apply the turbo patch and english translation and play around a bit. Alundra's pretty awesome, I just beat Corpse Worm in Magyscar. I'm going to take a small break from it and play Metal Gear 2 a little bit

Having a job really does help.

There's the money factor, meaning that, because it's YOUR money that YOU'VE earned, you're more attached to it, and more loathe to spend it frivolously. Meaning you don't buy and then play games unless you know exactly what you're getting into, and you feel more inclined to get your money's worth, so there's fewer games on your plate at a time.

And then there's the time factor. Because you have a job, you're forced to be more economical with your time, meaning you're less likely to spend time with un-fun busy-work in games. No more grinding, farming or crafting, meaning the time you spend having fun is actually spent having fun. And any time you're NOT playing will be time spent wishing you were. Anticipation is an often-overlooked aspect to video game enjoyment. Sometimes, wanting to play a particular game is more fun than actually playing it.

MG2 is one of my favs of the series.

It is very similar to MGS, but it feels a lot faster and fluid, the camera is more zoomed out which gives you more control of your surroundings, the radar is really interesting as it displays where every enemy is moving at all times, and the little transition screens with the Foxhound logo are charming as fuck.

I have a lot of fond feels linked to this game.
