Have you played Pathologic, anons? What did you think of it?
>2017 remake release
Let's hope it delivers
>summer is almost over
>I still haven't done the Haruspex playthrough I said I would
Oh well. Let's see if I can get around to it before the remake is released/delayed.
Hoping we get another progress update soon. I'm not worried, but reassurance is nice. Already resigned myself to a 2018 first quarter release.
>>388467892
I haven't done a Haruspex playthrough either, anon. I've had a hard time motivating myself to do another playthrough of the HD version because of the approaching remake, though I read IPL consider it a very different game.
>>388467917
That's my worry aswell. Can just hope they pull through, but I'd rather they release a few months later than drop a game with the same FPS issues as The Marble Nest (though I doubt it).
I haven't even beaten The Void yet
>>388467917
I was talking to one of the devs/pub rep at PAX this year (I honestly can't remember his position), and he was pretty open since my friends and I weren't media. Expect April 2018 at the earliest
>>388468414
That's about what I was expecting, tee bee aytch. Gives me time to get a better PC, too.
>>388468286
Get on that, friend. It gets better in the later stages when you're not scraping around in the first few areas.
>>388468616
I got myself stuck in an endless death loop some ways into the game due to running out of color and I can't bring myself to restart.
Fucking beautiful game though.
>>388468791
Ah, that sucks. I had to restart once or twice too before I learned to savescum like a madman. There's also the easy and normal mode patches that IPL put out, if you're ever in the mood to try again. Multiple save files is always good either way.
>Aspity's pupils in the Marble Nest demo
This really creeps me out
>>388468791
Yeah, that happens to pretty much everyone.
I think I had to restart 4 times until I got past the 2 hour mark. Most things can only be learned by trial and error, but once you get past Ava/Uta's chambers you should be fine.
>>388469009
>Someone is posting my screenshots alreadyFeels good man
>>388469009
I did three restarts before being able to finish it. Never knew about any mods or savescumming.
The worst thing is every year my memory of the game fades more and more and I can't see myself going back to it again yet I want to remember.
Dybowski seems to be one of a few developers who actually has clear underlying ideas in his own works and is well-versed in culturology and philosophy given that he got his education on faculty of philosophy.
His interviews are fairly interesting, though in some things he sounds nearly like Yoko Taro as for him player's experience, ideas and emotions he will get out from the game are far more important than gameplay itself.
>>388466712
I bought it like 6 years ago apparently, but I didn't play through it. I remember having audio problems or something. Is it any good? Should I try it again?
>>388469768
Anon...Buy the HD rerelease on Steam, the original version has a horrible translation.
>>388466712
>Have you played Pathologic, anons?
No, why should I? Serious question. I want to hear some Anons' thoughts about it.
>>388469768
What you have is the original 2005 version, which has huge translation problems. They released the "classic HD" version in 2015 (not to be confused with the upcoming remake), which fixes the translation. This is the one you want to be playing. If you don't want to buy it, you can pirate it without remorse since you bought the old game and the devs don't really care.
>>388469461
I ended up going back to it for the same reason you mention but found I didn't have any trouble with restarts now that I knew roughly what to do and how to go about it. Savescumming before a boss and the big creatures was still necessary but I've played it through almost three times now. It's not the same without the confusion and hopelessness, sure, but I can appreciate the beauty a lot more.
>>388469314
They're real good quality, please keep 'em coming if you can.
>yfw this happened
>>388470261not him but I took some pictures of my own to show a friend what the game is like
>>388469913
Story unlike anything you'll ever see, well, pretty much anywhere. Something that could only be told in a game, too. Fantastic atmosphere. Completely wonky and terrible gameplay with eyesore graphics. It's a unique experience, if you're the kind of person who can look past flaws to get to the good stuff.
The good news is you'll probably find out pretty quickly enough if it's your thing. If it's not your thing you'll still probably appreciate the atmosphere and general weirdness of it all, but find it too dated/clunky to keep going. If it is your thing it'll get under your skin and into your brain something fierce.
>>388466712
I tried to enjoy it but i could not.
I can see why there are a bunch of people that loves this game, but it is niche game i think.
It has some great atmosphere and for what i could read on the wiki, an amazing storyline.
The gameplay...the slooooow progressing...The fact that you need a guide of some sort to keep up with the game...
It is Just so boring to me, im willing to see and play the remake and giving another chance.
PD: the menu music is fucking godlike
>>388470554
I will save them all, thanks.
>>388470890
I really liked most of it, but the slow movement and combat made it so tedious by the 6th day or so. I'm not sure if I'm just a casual noob, but I really hope I can enjoy the remake more. The concept of the game is really interesting to me and I want to love the game, but I just couldn't stay into it.
>>388470664
>>388471159
that's understandable. it's dated as all hell and made by a bunch of people who had never made games before. hopefully the remake improves on things, from everything they've written on the dev blog they're at least very self-aware of the problems the original had.
>>388469881
if you are not to stands AT me,
that you are my enemy.
>>388471634
whoa, so even pathologic has jojo referencesI'm sorry I'll let myself out don't kill me
>>388469603
He's certainly a fascinating character. If only I knew russian; I'd love to listen to the lectures on gameplay he gave at KRI (the russian gamedev conference).

>>388470890
Since you have these I suppose you were in the last thread were I dumped some. I'm still not done with my playthrough, so I haven't made that many screenshots yet, but I mean to make a full set and upload it.
Here's a link for anyone interested :

There's almost nothing there yet, but I'll put all the screenshots there once I'm done. Might be by the end of the week, or next week at the very latest.
I'd love to put a few more in this thread, but I really need to catch some sleep. Why are IPL threads always starting when I go to bed...
>>388472206
Thanks mate, will be waiting warmly for the full deal. I'm trying to motivate myself to get back in and play it again, this is helping.
>>388471935
it was actually a backstroke of the west reference, the allah gold of elephant prosperous ratio.
>>388466712
Is Penumbra one of those games that you will definitely fuck up on a first time playthrough, and requires a bit of metagaming before you know what the hell you're doing?
I started a playthrough but got kinda overwhelmed.
I really need to get back into it, but my free time is sparse and my backlog huge.
>>388470656
I like the original Silent Hill games a lot, particularly all the freaky, abstract shit going on. From how you describe that game, I'll get a somewhat similar experience with this, but I just wanna be sure if you'd say the same or not.
>>388468791
Posting best sister
Someone please post that Artwork of the three characters in the centre with a bridge, the city, and theplagueoverlooking them
>>388466712
>lets hope
all it has to do is be 2deep4u and have 2017 open world surival rpg without the crafting and it's going to appease the fan base. It can't fail my man.
>>388474996
Maybe a bit? Pathologic's probably got a lot more walking and less fighting, but the general feeling of everything being out to get you is similar. Though in Pathologic's case it's rarely as overt; one of the things I like about the game is that it's one of the few that has the balls to have characters straight up lie to you, and not in obvious ways.
Give it a shot. Go with Bachelor your first time, and try to make it past the first day as that's the least interesting part of the game. Protip though, it's the only time in the game you can get a game over from not doing the daily quest.
>>388466712
Ugh. You're not supposed to discuss good games on /v/
