How can an early access game that almost copies minecraft get

every 6 months or so i boot up this game again. every time it's still a horribly broken, buggy mess that isn't close to playable.
why do i hear people praising it all the time?

Because it's spooky as shit.
I have 100 hours and still been too scared to enter a cave. The only time I tried there was no loot and I got 360 no-scoped by a giant zombie cow that jumped out of the darkness.

Also kind of sucks that the game rewards building less stuff, sneaking and being undetected. If you switch between 7-something well-hidden tree house bases or live on a raft you basically never get seen.
