Apparently making classes at least viable in all activities is "bad for the long-term health of the game." I can't imagine WoW players saying mages should not be playable in PvP or druids should not be allowed to raid, for instance.

Elementalist is pretty involved. You have 20 weapon abilities available to you, with it being divided into 5 abilities for each element. It takes a while to get used to switching element attunements mid fight, but mastering that and memorizing what the skills do will really open things up since swapping elements resets your ability cooldowns.

The terrain was just over obstructive. Say that your objective is on the other side of a wall. In a HoT map, you need to go on a mile long journey through multiple enemy clusters to get there a half hour later. If you're I'm the Tangled Depths, now you have to worry about whether or not your on the right level to get where your going.

Metabattle is an okay place to figure out a basic build, but you really shouldn't take anything they say there too seriously.

Outside of raids and super high-end fractals nothing in this game is remotely challenging enough to merit absolute minmaxing. Just have an idea of what type of damage you want to do (power vs condi) and make sure that's your primary stat. I've seen people hate on the dumbest shit in this game because of how they perceive "da meta."

Well thief is and always has been my main. Flippy tricky backstabby fun, then you get daredevil and it becomes flippy tricky stick bashy fun. Also weapon skills have no cooldown, instead spending a special resource called initiative.

Revenant is neat because you can swap out all your utility skills. Most of their abilities are on short cooldowns because they also spend a resource. Also good if you were a GW1 fan, since they actually have conversations with the character they're currently channeling.

Elementalists can swap attunements, and does some of the highest damage and support in the game.

Engineers can swap out all of their weapons with kits, while also effectively getting a second set of utility skills.

Necromancer is a super-tanky mage who probably has the most build diversity, since you can build for pets, death shroud, or boon corruption, all while building towards power or condi. Also you're the emo kid from high school who cuts themselves.

Mesmer is kind of the GW franchise's big "thing." Building illusions, then shattering them to deal a truckload of damage while warping the fabric of space-time.

I almost specifically play for the economy lol. So far the economy has alot of extremely highly prized gem store items such as rare unboxes from the black lion chest however, materials for crafting have maintained a steady price throughout the game besides the obvious leather.You can convert gems to gold however, its a terrible idea since the conversion rate can make you lose almost 50% or more of actual gold to gems.

Funnily enough the market is extremely susceptible to being abused via high buy orders. EI: Mystic coins. But right now im saving a shitton of those sprocket items from the black lion chest so once the supply of rare discontinue items dies down, i can sell them for mad profit.

Vanilla GW2 was a good MMO template with satisfying gameplay, the premise of becoming a great MMO, the existence of WvW, and the whole fashion wars thing kept me playing. The game had tons of gaps but had promise.

Then once Anet filled said gaps with objective shit like Tangled Depths, DPS meters and healing specs, and even WoW style reputation farming, I'm sorry, "language masteries".

Not making HoT mandatory for the second exp is a step in the right direction but I wish it was possible to just erase HoT from existence and start over with vanilla 2012esque GW2.

Living World Season 3 has a couple decent maps. They brought in some interesting concepts like the return of renowned hearts basically being daily quests.

Heart of Thorns is a mixed bag expansion

The good news is that it lays the ground-work for more expressive class builds for all game modes. The mastery system adds a sense of progression that isn't "Grind 10 more levels and then render past content obsolete." Raids and Fractals are a good improvement over Dungeons.

sPvP and WvW rewards are revamped a good deal and grant rewards parallel to PvE content (and honestly my preferred way to gain gold).

The bad news is that Elite Specializations were a good deal overtuned, and wound up being "get this or be forgotten", unless you were Engineer, who got the mediocre in anywhere except PvP/WvW Scrapper Elite.

PvP/WvW combat has become a bit of a tug-of-war between making boons/conditions stick. Lots of boon generation and not too many ways of stripping them until the next expansion in which condi cleanse will be in higher demand.

Warrior Power DPS and Power builds have been repeatedly slapped in the face throughout Heart of Thorns. Some nerfs more justified than others (Seaweed Salad was a dumb food).

I didn't enjoy it because it was predictable as fuck and the ending was retarded. All it took to take down the dragon was a zerg rush and the player using a cannon. No legendary sword, no ancient magical spell and no lost dwarf relic.

It's...hard for me to say. Maybe because I'm not the best GW player. I got HoT when it came out. As far as I can tell, the best gear I could get on my own was the shit you get from running dungeons. I then did that daily thing in the desert to get the shiny transmog gear. I remember fighting a huge fucking dragon towards the end where we jumped to different platforms...then I quit and haven't been on it for a year or so.

With WoW I could write a book on everything I've done on it and how I've progressed. With GW....not so much. I did shit, shit happened, there was lesbians....I remember there's plenty of lesbians. I do love lesbians.

I even tried watching a few youtube videos on the lore and can't remember what it was about.

Only played PvE so far for nearly 200 hours. What are fractals exactly? Is it toxic territory? How does the leveling or whatever work there? I'm not the best player, just saying.

What is the canon or most lore-friendly race for each profession? I can't play a character if it doesn't satisfy my autism.

no idea. I usually just open world bosses timer and join world boss trains and just do shit for pve farming. Then WvW zerg rushes to complete reward tracks and gear my characters.

Fractals are PvE;they're like mini dungeons that get harder at hither levels,but the loot gets better too.There are multiple guides on YouTube for you to familiarize before attempting them and no its not toxic territory unless the LFG has red flags that you should avoid
