Story centered open world. Something like Arkham City where the world isn't that big but populated more like Assassin's Creed so the world feels alive.

Story missions involve MGS style sneaking, driving chase sequences (both 'escape the police' and 'follow this guy'), with sword duels and gunfights as side missions.

It should be a Max Payne 1 style. A single core, well-written story unfolded through closed level. No skill trees, no stats, no open world, no rpg-mechanics. The narrative and the graphics should be the most cured part of the game (this does not imply to have a hyperrealistc aesthetic but just one who gets the mood of Lupin). Mechanics should be obviously focused on the use of sneaking but most of all on gimmicks (like the fake hand to avoid beign handcuffed, or the parachute to jump off buildings) and disguises. I would personally find fancy to introduce a mechanic where tou could build your own disguise with it's effectiveness related to the surroundings and the place where you have to sneak in (i.e. if you try to infiltrate a bank disguised as a geisha you will surely be noted while maybe a simple ATM repair guy would pass unnoticed).

Did you guys check out the Miine Fujiko show?

That and Jigen's Gravestone are both really good, story and animation wise.

I think that's the "season" I'd base a game off of, just because it's an update that stays in touch with the series's routes and has tons of materials for you to work off of since the Miine Fujiko show is set before the entire gang really unites/teams up.

I'd also like it if there'd be a character select, with each character having their own campaign.

Pick Fujiko and you're in France, pick Goemon and you're in South America. Each one has their own little storyline that involves the rest and an ending that fits their overall goals.

Lupin's definitely got the setting and style that'd make for a pretty great video game with the right people in charge of it.

Literally anywhere honestly.
None of it is connected it's literally "I like this style of stories maybe I should check out more of them".
I'd check out some of the movies first to see if you like them, and if you do from there you can literally watch anything. Cagliostro is probably the most well known, but the gravestone of Daisuke and the detective conan movies wouldn't be bad places to start either, the most recent series wasn't bad either even if it added OC characters.

You can start with Green Jacket which was way back from 1971 or something but that's old as fuck and even though I really liked it it's probably not for everyone.

You can try the miniseries "The Woman Named Mine Fujiko" which is based around one of the side characters but does well to introduce you to the world of Lupin though it's somewhat on the darker end of the series. Then theres things like he movies Castle of Cagliostro, The Mystery of Mamo, Island of Assassins, or Tokyo Crisis. Cagliostro and Mamo are pretty much Lupin classics, Cagliostro pretty much got me into the series.

Then you've got the Red Jacket series which is pretty much the most popular iteration of the character and has something in the 100+ episodes but that's also on the older end.

There was the most recent part 4 with the blue jacket which would be a pretty good intro as well.

Frankly it's a large frachise that's largely kind of unconnected for the most part and it's all based off an original manga. I'd say look into one the more recent series and a couple of the more well received movies to see if you have a taste for the Lupin series. After that go nuts.

>People on /a/ can't stand the Fujiko anime
I've actually seen quite a few people talk about how much they didn't like it, but I've spent enough time watching these shows and browsing forums to discuss them that I've come to learn that I shouldn't listen to the opinions of people on a lot of things.

It's why I asked in my earlier post, since I've seen tons of people who were turned off because of it status as a spin off of an older series that had people complaining/whining about the content of the show.

I agree with your thoughts on the ending, but I still think every other part of the show (including Zenigata getting to bang Fujiko) was pretty great and well done. Also the music is well done, to say the least. I'm a big fan of the opening, too.

I was kinda iffy on the new character (Zenigata's assistant, whose name I can't recall atm), but I ended up loving what they did with him in that Girl's School episode.

I don't think Lupin is particularly a good source material for a videogame adaptation. I really wish people started considering this when they talk about adaptations, instead of just saying "I like X so X would make for a great videogame."

That said, if you insist, I think a basic heist simulator of some sort (perhaps something like a non-violent version of the good old Rainbow Six games) based on mission structure, possibly with emphasis on pre-mission planning could kinda sorta work. You could also have some kind of basic text/animation based storyline between them, something like Valkyria Chronicles games did. It's hardly ideal, but it would not go contradictory to what the show establishes if nothing else.

Green jacket is closer to the original and is played straighter in tone, even if there is some comedy in there. Lupin and co. kill without problem, less gags, etc. Red is more comedic, pink is goofy bordering on absurd, Fujiko Mine is "Mature" (read: lots of nudity), and blue strikes a good medium between humor and seriousness. It also has some great movies so far (daisuke Jigen's graveston, Goemon Ishikawa's bloodspray). Blue jacket movies are also a prequel of sorts to the gang actually coming together, so you see more clashing between the members than you normally might
>>
>>388428962
>Bloodspray
>great
It's subpar and even worse than most Lupin specials.
>>
>>388428537
It's more of a difference between the first and second halves of green jacket than a difference between GJ and the other "parts."
Green jacket started with this more mature tone, where Lupin and Jigen were the only true allies; Fujiko and Goemon had their own interests. Under Miyazaki's direction, the second half of GJ turned into a kiddies show with "Lupin and his gang" having different adventures. It made the series a lot more generic.
The other jackets fix this and go back to the original tone.

>pink is goofy bordering on absurd,
Pink is really more "over the top". The gags go way out there and some episodes are extremely goofy, but then you also get dark episodes that have more violence than any other animation in the franchise besides the recent OVAs (blood everywhere, Goemon once cuts an old man's head in half). It also often involved stories where Lupin's gang by themselves basically got through entire rebellions or armies of small countries.
>>
>>388429070
Eh, Goemon is a tough nut to crack though for what a story specifically for him would be and still be great. He's a stoic and character that was more known for his sword play than anything.

> kaito kid
good taste, i wish the artist of this one wasn't the same as Detective conan as i have a preference for this serie than the latter even tho i love Detective conan. There's a CLEAR lack of Kaito kid in my opinion and they're the best, fuck just thinking about the NAITOMARE chapter/episode is impressive and show how the artist became more mature. I also like how colored it is. People didn't really liked it, but i fucking LOVED the TMS-Entertainment anime adaptations of the serie, they did some bad thing there and there (like Jirokichi dogs being completely removed for no purpose, and weird nose in general) but i think it's the best kaito kid adaptation - It is more in line with the manga than Kaito kid 1412, the previous one, who added some new character and new anime only episode, it has some beautiful animations and drawing i've ever seen in an anime, and the kaito kid hideout version of this anime is actually better than the manga version where kaito simply hears a cassette from his father telling him everything and not having 24 vinyls explaining how to be a good magician. A bit underused even, because i think only ten episode use it at the beginning. sad.
And i love the crossover with detective conan, they're my favorite and seeing the other point of views in the DC anime is always great, i always can't wait to see the next Kaito Kid episode.
