Summoner gets really fun at level 60, if you're not at that point yet I would reconsider dropping it.

It's complete ass at level 50 now though, because they removed a whole bunch of the sub-50 skills in an ill-advised attempt to reduce button clutter.

Healing is by far the worst job in XIV and I say this as someone that mains healer. It was fun in Heavensward, with all the buttons to press and Cleric Stance dancing, but now it's just braindead. SCH is the only healer that has any real mechanics to master (even though they've just been made more tedious than challenging), yet they're not rewarded for it at all anymore. An AST could produce the same results (healing-wise) for far less effort/mastery. WHM brings tons of damage, raw burst healing, and high mana sustain, with their only drawback being their lack of utility (which AST covers).

Stormblood pretty much rewards the braindead jobs while punishing the high-skillcap ones. It's pretty much the opposite of Heavensward.

Probably the best thing going on for AST is that every party composition wants one. The skills are flashy and fun to use (especially Lightspeed). There's also a neat interaction with Celestial Opposition on Cleric Stance/Lucid Dreaming/your cards and other buffs.
It was easy for me to change because of the shared gear. I can just change back to SCH if they ever change the job and not worry about gear progression.
However if you are playing tank I'd just recommend you sticking to it. It pains me to open PF and see every party missing only one or two tanks.

SMN and SCH should never be separated. On the contrary, the game should go the opposite direction and make more double jobs. Make Thief an evasion tank branching off from Rogue, for example. It's not hard in the slightest. Every job has more job actions than class actions. Anything unbalanced can easily be fixed on the job side via traits.

To take my THF tank idea, for instance, all the Rogue abilities would work on a tank, they even have a damage mitigation skill already. Give THF the poisons that were removed from NIN, boom now you have a lifesteal move in Mug and a choice between Stun/Silence. Give THF a trait that turns Trick Attack into Sneak Attack so they can use it from the front, and another trait that allows Hide to be used in combat. Then pile on tank skills as Job actions. Their invincibility move would be Flee, the traditional signature move of Thief in FF - the animation would literally be them fleeing the area for a few seconds, complete with the classic FF run away sound effect, leaving the boss hitting thin air.
