Are there games like Haven & Hearth that don't require you wait real life hours to do shit. Single player is fine it's the forage and build aspect that is fun. The wait literal days for shit to happen part is what kills this game for me.

Dont some of the dinos in that game take ages to tame?
>>
Ya can play Wurm Unlimited and speed thing up in world options
>>
>>388364972
You can increase the time it takes. I played the shit outta this game for a few weeks but it too gets old. I found haven and hearth on here after never seeing it elsewhere and was hoping for another hidden gem. Seems most posts are about popular games so thought I would start thread.

>>388365173
Wurm has been around for a long time right? I remember trying it unfinished and thinking it had potential, I'll check this one out.
>>
>>388364972
Only if you do it wrong. There is a progression system. You tame dinos, get their eggs, use them to make kibble to tame bigger dinos. There are hororr stories of it taking 8 hours to tame something but this is because they are doing it without kibble.

God damn Haven was so comfy when I was addicted to it. You take a small piece of land, build a wall and then get a serious case of xenophobia when you realize everyone wants to kill you. But inside your small fortress you are safe for a while.

No other game has replicated that feeling for me.

>>
>>388367229
OP here, I gave in and relaunched it. I wish I had left my stuff on my, all I have are axe and shit armor.
>>
>>388367476
Is there a trick to it or just more common?

>>388367530
I saw a post about Rimworld which is what got me started on this hunt for a survival game. Rimworld is another I have played this shit out of. After rewatching every video by that Primitive Technology guy I want some medieval stuff. If only Medieval Life was better.
>>
>>388367721
A lot more common, the only problem is finding good quality metal
>>
>>388367476
>>388367721
>>388367909
Not that guy but last time I played, there was metal rocks spawned around the surface randomly. But after a while everyones already taken them. I'm probably gonna play next time they reset the world.
>>
>>388365375
those chicken-legs are an instant turn-off
>>
>>388368140
I'm surprised they haven't yet. I think I had started around the last reset. How do you find a group to play with? It seems like making a village would make this much more fun and tolerable with splitting time.
>>
>>388364857

Dont play ark. Its seriously trash. I played it a bunch when it first came out and the game has been thankfully easier to play now since you can easily make materials that would take hours to grind before and kibble makes taming dinos easier.

But the issue is that there is no end game. You build up a big fort or whatever, tame all the dinos you want and then.. thats basically it. If you play on a server with people, you basically just go out and kill their shit, destroy their buildings and basically reset them, but that will also happen to you. I guess thats fun or whatever? But its super easy to get the best shit if you know what youre doing/where to go and honestly the pvp is imbalanced as fuck. I seriously recommend just playing something else.
>>
>>388368940
This is the problem with a lot of these survival games. The fun of learning and exploring wears off and you find you are just grinding. The only solution is to find another game or wait a year and come back.
>>
>>388368483
Playing in a village is really the only way to go unless you hermit and do everything yourself which is a pain in the ass, all the big well known villages only take in people they know and the game peaks at about 280 so finding people is hard
>>
>>388368483
I've played as a hermit for like 3 worlds and it's possible to have fun without a group, but it is much harder and pvp was out of the option for me. Maybe make a /vg/ thread and you could find a few people though.
>>
>>388369190

Yeah. And i'll admit I was absolutely hooked on Ark for a good couple of months or so, but thats because it took so long to fucking really do anything. The server I was on had basically nobody on it only like a handful of people and it was peaceful. I was playing it like a job though, wake up and just be on it grinding shit, living day by day, learning to tame dinos. Shit was hard as fuck, especially if youre alone like I was, just making a small house took forever and I didnt really want to use any dinos which is a huge mistake.

Now though they have dinos that cover all your needs, I bet youd reach end game status a lot quicker than I did with how much better the newer dinos make the game compared to the 'originals'
>>
>>388366707
Wurm online was that way for me, but it takes a while to get your character skills leveled up. Like years...
>>
>>388369325
>>388369575
I didn't think of trying a general. At least one anon in here said they are interested though.

>>388369650
>because it took so long to fucking really do anything
This drives me nuts on these games. Artificial time added is not fun its work.
I ended up playing solo because of pvp and lag issues. I do wish I had watched others play earlier on, like you I spent far too long not using dinos which make the early game much much easier. Riding a wolf around was pretty fun
>>
>>388369831
I have a small claim which is slowly expanding, if enough people are interested I'd put a village claim up

H&H is masterfully created in terms of the early game, but late game is garbage.
I play every new world for months before dropping it, and let me tell you that the relief I feel when I quit that shit is pure bliss.
Waking up and needing to do hours worth of chores in game is not a good feeling. It is for a while, don't get me wrong, but there's simply too much to do for the most part.
Cooking cupboards upon cupboards full of pies a day to keep up with the other top players is fucking awful. That nigga jorb needed to leave the stat cap in place, but no, he removed it for no fucking reason so enjoy the endless grind if you want to remain relevant.

>>
>>388371391
If they just ran a PVE world it would be much better, since the Russians' only source of fun comes from victimizing people who aren't Russian.
>>
>>388371391
I havent seen any russian shittery on this new haven, but it was pretty bad on the old one
>>
Did that 3D Haven game by the same guys ever come out?
>>
>>388372025
Never heard of it. Seems like they didn't finish the isometric one though. I hope they didn't abandon it.
>>
>>388372091
We might be talking about the same game. It was still an isometric camera, just with basic 3D graphics.
>>
This game was super comfy, I just made a little house on a river bank set against a hill. No real defenses, I left food out for wanderers, I never had any harm come to me it was strange. I really enjoyed just exploring, charting, farming, etc.
>>
>>388370883
Jorb and Loftar would easily be able to see who's botting by simply teleporting to players. But the game is under development and they need beta testing so it would be pretty detrimental to ban them, especially when they're the ones best at finding any exploit to win. There will probably be a time in the future when they'll just be banned.
>>
>>388372025
Yes, they're still working on it and have been for maybe 2 years now since it's release. Last few updates have been pretty good from what I see but personally am waiting for a world reset to play again.
>>
>>388372158
I think they did then. You can zoom in it looks 3d, also I think there is a command (maybe it was in the aurora client) that lets you see first person.

>>388372179
I had some bad times on my first character but ended up in a pretty quiet area the next time around (not counting asshold bears and boars) where the nearby players were friendly but mistrustful. I pretty much autoharthed from anyone though so I never found out if others were friend or foe.
>>
To anyone considering Ark after the recommendation in this thread, don't play on official servers or private servers with vanilla rates. It has become a Korean MMO style grind at default settings.
>>
Any tips for Haven & Hearth players not yet past the metal stage but at the wood pallisade (bone glue) stage?
>>
>>388369820
>Like years
Wurm Unlimited is basically that with private servers so you can customize exp gain. IIRC they also have a "curve" where you can gain skill super fast at first but it levels out around mid-range so it's not too easy.

Didn't HnH update into a shitty 3D game with sub time?
>>
>>388373168
They basically made it so you can leave your gates open and not get robbed because of the visitor buff, you can also make slave keys so you can only open gates from the inside

I use a slave key and just hearth back inside my walls, so if I die or get killed by someone they cant take my key and get inside my place

Here is my history of H&H

>Make a village
>It turns out leaving your gates open means Russians kill you
>Make another village
>It turns out if you give out a signpost to your village, Russians will build construction signs around it, and then teleport over your walls and kill you
>Make a village
>It turns out Russians can dig under your village and build fires, allowing them to teleport inside of your village
>Make a village
>It turns out Russians have been playing the game so long they can just bash your walls open with one guy and a sledgehammer so they don't even need to teleport anymore

I forgot the word "other" in my question. Galaxy Online was the shit in this aspect. You had your own personal shitty base but the rest of the universe was fought between the rest of the factions because the planets were way better and yielded more resources.

Once they get knocked out by person or animal, you have the chance to log out or hearth back home while they can steal from you and leech you up if they must. To compensate pvp wounds are worse now or something

It's a huge step in the right direction, PVP is good but most of what happened in the game was just douchebaggery that completely ruined the game for 95% of the playerbase. PVP is only a positive thing when it has a purpose and reason, random killings had neither.

Hopefully they keep going so that in the future we can have a game with more endgame depth and reasons to work together/trade with others.

It's crazy to see it come up and find out it's still getting updates. I remember being excited about it what must have been 15 years ago.

>hyped up for hafen
>it finally comes out
>microtransactions up the ass
>have to spawn randomly so good luck trying to play with people you know
>forums become a complete shitstorm
>game practically disappears from /vg/ after a few days

why

I didn't know dev circlejerks smelled like vodka and borscht.

You should really try this game, if you like your lifes time sucked out by shitty mechanics.

Factorio is my current favorite, but there is no shortage of survival/construction games on the market.
>>
>>388391958
Yeah the playtime restriction was gay as hell and they removed it after some time. You can also spawn in people at your location using a wilderness beacon now.

Stranded 2, it's also free
There's also stranded 1 but I've never checked it out

>>388391958
You can spawn with pals now via the wilderness beacon
And aside from the verification/subscription all the microtransactions are cosmetic
I still won't play because I refuse to grind for what others get for free via bots

Games like Haven&Hearth have the problem that they have no gameplay mechanics that encourage and reward society building in any meaningful way. It's all just collaboration to be more destructive and ruin everyone else's shit. Exclusive aggressiveness that doesn't create anything greater if you will. Total genocides of opponents are basically non-existent IRL. You want those puny peasants and others to keep enriching you.

Man this thread make me want to play H&H again but holy fuck I know I won't be able to stand the infinite grind and community again and drop it in a few months
Also the curio system really ruined it for me.

Curio system is better for the environment. No bucket or basket factories.

This might seem like a bit of an odd suggestion, but try Life is Feudal, make your own server, tweak mining/gathering times and then just enjoy carving out and building up your own little slice of paradise innawoods.

I fucking love it.

I know it's "for the best", it's just that the game was so much more fun for me with earning point by doing things rather than looking at statuettes and dragonflies for eons.
Also the /v/illage having 20 autists doing fuckall but littering buckets everywhere was kind of fun too.
>>
This game is neat and all but it's a bit too much "reality simulator". Really it sucks up your entire life. Certain industries have time cycles that are real-life WEEKS long. Like try taming and breeding cattle for example, you have to play active over the course of real life months to be a succesful cattle farmer. And then you're always at the threat of someone just sacking your settlement while you're offline, so it's constantly in the back of your head even when you're not playing. I must admit i'm too "casual" for such a videogame. Even Dwarf Fortress is less hardcore than this.

oh man now I'm thinking about all the old shit

>Some years back
>Thread on /v/ about H&H
>Decide to try it out, why not
>We all gather up some places
>We're around 30
>We have a shitton of hunters because they all thought it'd be the hot shit, little did they knew that hunting was dull as fuck for most of the time
>Most of them get fucked by a deer or moose, don't remember which the game have
>Just enjoy getting the fundations of our /v/illage up and running
>Fish a FUCKTON
>Everyone trying to get their own personal houses
>That general panic when some fucks ran back to the village with a boar at his ass
>Everyone was hauled in the only house built waiting for it to fuck off until I decided to yolo it up and run away after provocking it
>After that adventure we decided to have the rule of "if you have something at your ass, man or beast, run the opposing direction of the village"
>Trying to get a giant ass farm to feed us all

Man, good times
>>
>playing current world H&H
>Joined the world a few weeks after reset. I heard the news a little late.
>One friend joins me while I'm looking for a place to settle, been boating for a couple hours
>Soon all our friends log on and want in on this
>Two full boats of noobs and me now exploring
>They desperately want to settle, so I have to abandon my rigorous vetting of the area and we basically pick a spot at random
>After we build a couple houses discover a massive village 5 minutes walking distance north of us
>I shit my pants and tell everyone we might have to go, but they don't want to
>Later that night we're watching a movie and I'm online in the house botting cone cows and shit
>Hear someone enter
>Quickly tab in
>Some bitch with a b12 already
>She walks out, apparently thought I was afk and didnt want to kill me
>I exit the house and everything is kill, bitch is nowhere to be seen
>Go north and beg for them to spare my noobs
>I talked to the one girl in the village and she has a heart
>Our villages become friends and eventually join up together, living in the same walls

Good ending

Thinking about playing this game, is it recommended for someone who is going to be starting university in like 4 days? I can't devote stupid amounts of time to it but it does look very comfy, like something I can drink milk and listen to Plantasia to
>>
I can't believe how hard they fucked up on haven

it's literally taken the same course as shitty gook MMOs and went from a completely social game to a singleplayer infinity grinder with a lot of "bring me boar ass" quests

>>

You don't need to dump stupid amounts of time into this game. You can enjoy it at a leisurely pace as we are so late into the world that you will never ever be 'competitive' with anyone else anyway. I would normally suggest to wait until they reset the world as that is really really fun, but you would probably lose interest/forget by then

The way the game is designed, there's always something productive you could be doing to fill up your time, but it's not required. Doing minor maintenance type tasks will keep you progressing at a steady rate without burning yourself out

complete and utter rubbish, the game is a festering corpse of what it used to be, and this can be confirmed by even a single peek at the moot

no more faction vs faction
no more world politics
no more drama of betrayal and hurt, literally just posts of guys with b12's hitting alts while blasting rap music

and if all you're interested in doing is making a farm and having a little of livestock, congratulations on your daily requirement of farming 1000000sqrt of acres of carrots just to keep the fuckers fed
on the bright side I guess they lag out anyone that comes near you so badly that they won't even bother to raid you for the required 48 nonstop hours.
>>
>>388400108
Nah man, Haven has always been a game designed for neet virgins. Of course nothing in the game forces you to play 4+ hours a day, but you will not get any satisfaction out of it unless you do so, and everyone who tells otherwise is lying to themselves. And the game is addictive as heroin, so better stay away from it.
