It doesn't matter. There was never a hard rule on how Mario's physics should work. People bitch about "floaty" physics in smash bros, but Mario games are all different styles of platforming, and each one uses Mario's abilities as needed. For instance, Mario Galaxy takes advantage of a second air spin in case you mess up a jump, and even then sometimes the gravity of a planet will save you (or punish you). That game doesn't need the same style of tight controls and "heavier" landings compared to something like SM64
