It says right there if you pre order you get to play a day early. You don't have to pay a dime, all you have to do is wait 24 hours and you get to play it without pre ordering

The beta will be open to everybody. Pre-ordering just gives you earlier access.

And "Beta" is just the new word for "demo". The game is out in less than 2 weeks, what information could they possibly get (beyond server stress tests) from the beta that could be implemented to the game in time?
