Baba is the director. He had a crush on that character's VA which developed after Zesteria's plot was written. So, he changed the plot to have one of the lead female characters (a likeable character at that) fuck off and never to the storyline. That bitch was her fill-in for the plot, and she is about as no personality Mary Sue as you can get. The game became about all about Rose (the character who in question) advancing the plot in ways that make her seem powerful, and literally the entire cast just sucks her fuck about how cool she is.

Also Zesteria has shitty gameplay with a shitty camera.

dunno about zetiria, but berseria was quite fun. not much of a fan about the gameplay though, it resolve really quickly around button mashing and always switching gear, but maybe that was just because i was bro-oping with 2 friends

Abyss is an ok game, I would play Symphonia to experience an older game, or if you feel like it, play Eternia to experience a 2D one. If you want an improvement however, I would play Xillia or Vesperia.

Anyway, I would play at least a couple of other games before Berseria, that one is miles ahead of the rest of the series in overall quality, it will make it impossible to enjoy any older game after you play it.

How do Graces F/Symphonia/Berseria compare to Abyss?

Different combat system (if it's better or worse depends on taste), characters and story are a bit shittier, graphics are about the same.

Less refined gameplay (it's an older game after all), worse graphics with chibi like aesthetics, story is pretty bad, overrated by gamecube babby who had no other jrpg to play (other than Baten Kaitos which is much better but no one ever talks about it).
>Berseria
Best in the series by far in every conceivable way. Combat system is a bit button mashy, especially at the beginning. Good story, characters, music, graphics, native PC port with good framerate and low requirements (1080p60fps on a 560Ti maxed out except for shadows).
