I'm 27 and while I haven't experienced as dramatic a decline as you the one thing I have noticed is I cannot play a game all day like when I was younger. It's not even an issue of being too busy. When I have complete days off with nothing to do I just cannot sit down and play vidya for 10-12 hours. In 2 hours or less I'm already losing interest. It's probably for the best. Yes. Same reason why people in their early twenties are top in most sports. You get experience and knowledge but your reflexes and the ability to soak up knowledge declines.

Some people can keep up, some people can even do better (depending on the type of game they are playing) but your prime years are over. You have to sink in more and more hours and even then there is no guarantee a 14 years old won't run circles around you.

I think raw skill went up. When Halo was new, I won basically every match. It seemed like shitters could hardly move and look simultaneously. Could 1v4 the whole team no sweat. You just need to play more than youngs to validate the same skills, and need to focus more to lose less skills over Time. Could be. Could also be that you just are not having as much fun or enjoying it as much as you did before. Making it so you are less engaged due to how not as fun as it is to you now a days.

I would assume that its a bit of both. Since maybe you are still having fun just not as much as before which makes you less engaed overall due to like less whatever chemicals made you enjoy shit and you getting old and skills and reaction time dulling ever so slightly.

39 here, agree for the most part. I tend to latch on to specific games and can play marathon sessions of them, but those are few and trying to find another game to add to that limited pool seems like a fruitless exercise in frustrations.

I am not taking it, nor do I have depression. It's not a drug that should be used often but a tool to improve yourself as a person. It does cause long term personality changes and hopefully they are permanent as it makes one more open-minded. Studies only prove this. It has nootropic effects in low doses as well.
