Blood Omen 1 is a great game, it explains a lot about how Kaine became what he is now, but expect a completely different gameplay.

Blood Omen 2 is... I don't even know, the gameplay is pretty solid I feel, but it's not reeeaaaaally part of the main canon and takes place in some weird alternate timeline. Personally didn't like that.

God damn I need a dreamcast again. It's version of soul reaver is straight up the definitive port and I love the series. Too bad I have a procrastination problem and probably won't get it.

It's clunky and unpolished at times but people are mostly triggered by how poorly it fits in the timeline. The game has a particular atmosphere though that is far from being unenjoyable, unlike Defiance which you can fully enjoy by just watching cutscenes on youtube, venturing Meridian in BO2 yourself is part of the appeal. Still can be skipped.

The first level is actually pretty fine, until the final platforming bit. Then it's all downhill. You'll run out of patience soon.
