My queues as DPS were pretty short (at least 2x shorter than now) in HW. They really dropped the ball in the expansion, particularly for healers. Healer queues are instant now, yet tanks are the only ones that still get daily rewards.

The only way to change that would be to alter the fundamentals of what makes tanks/healers what they are, which would likely fuck up far more things in the process. People just don't like the responsibility associated with healing or tanking, exaggerated though it may be. Unless we're talking about some specific mechanics in end-game raids or someone just straight falling asleep at the keyboard, it's quite likely that a DPS will never be solely responsible for a wipe, while a tank or a healer can't say the same unless they're lying to you.

Honestly, the Stormblood MSQ beats out the base Heavensward MSQ for me. Heavensward was pretty good, but if we take out the parts after beating Thordan that leads up to Final Steps of Faith, then I think Stormblood is better so far.

When I got into it, I really enjoyed it. I just started hating how everything was 'talk to x then come back to y' for main quests. Then I went on holidays

when i came back, it seemed more of the same and I was ready to move on from that.. just felt like needless leveling and needing to wait 20+ min for a story dungeon.

And its /vg/ thread (I know..) is just cancer, but there seems to have been an uptick in threads here recently.

fair enough. When I got it, I tried the free trial because I was hankering for a good mmo, and I heard many times over 14 was the best. It took me ~10 hours of playtime before I bought it because a LOT of it rubbed me the right way for how I thought an MMO should play, like only needing one character that can level every class and just needing to do the story for your first class. I play monk, because I saw I could get a pompadour and be a fist fighter. Liked how position was important for the class. Everything seemed to be an overall improvement over when I played WoW (circa BC)

All they have to do is make the jobs feel more rwarding and "fun" to play. They're kind of on the right track with tanking (though I feel tanking was leagues better in HW), but healing right now is just a pain in the ass. All of the dungeons in SB can be pulled wall to wall and with the change to sprint, tanks can now do more aggressive pulls, with complete disregard to the healer's cooldowns (this is especially bad with scholars, who have both cooldowns and stacks to maintain between pulls). They are also incredibly boring to play in solo content. Add in the raging hard-on everyone has for DPS'ing in this game and it feels like there's just no incentive to heal.

Even a small change like cracked clusters for both tanks and healers in dailies would encourage more people to queue up as healer, but that would sense so we can't have that.

If there's one thing you need to know about FXIV is that it never gets any better for the main story quests. In fact it gets a LOT worse. The between base game and heavensward is downright horrible and made me consider buying a jump potion With how god awful it was.

However there is quite a lot of fun once you start reaching 40 and 50 as your classes really come online then.
If you don't mind throwing out 15 bux I'd say give it a shot. There's also a free, untimed trial that lasts until you're 35 so if you wanted you could try starting over from scratch, 35 levels is really not that much.

Also remember that groups don't just come to your lap. You gotta ask around and socialize. Eventually you'll find a place

It can be tough to get people to do old content right now. If you still have any desire to play, my best suggestion would be to join a less populated server, because those tend to have the most new players in my experience. Avoid legacy servers or anything remotely as populated.

The alternative to this is to find a good FC, with reasonable people (and little to no drama) that are willing to help newer players get through old content. This option takes more effort, but is potentially more rewarding in the long term.

I know we're working against Final Fantasy logic where friendship is the ultimate power, but answering an inherently violent problem with violence is not in itself a bad thing. If a dog is rabid, you put it down. The overall problem of the Dragonsong War was that mortals and dragons were both continuing the millennia old conflict without the understanding of why it even happened. The mortals who realized the truth and the dragons who were separate from Nidhogg's rage could see common ground. Once the human side of the conflict was dealt with, it was Nidhogg who was prolonging the war, and there was no other way round it but to kill him. He could not be talked down or reasoned with in any way, and as long as he lived the war would continue. It's not a philosophical question of if violence is worth potentially more violence at that point, it's that there's one cunt who is continuing the violence and the one option he has given you is to kill him or to keep fighting a perpetual war.

They weren't, actually. Gaius didn't send his troops back into Eorzea again after Midgardsormr fucked the Agrius up. He didn't want to send his men in to die against primals only for them to be summoned back. The only Garleans he sent in were spies to try and create civil unrest as they did in Ala Mhigo so he could take them as peacefully as possible.
The troops sent into Eorzea were under Nael's command. Nael was batshit fucking crazy and walked into Ifrit's lair herself to kill him.

Imo it's best to level DPS through MSQ, because you always have a ton of shit to do between queues. Always level tanks or healers last, because they get quicker queues, so don't really need to much outside of dungeons for leveling. There's also Palace of the Dead, where you get quick queues regardless of your class, but I think you have to get through ARR first to access it.

I hold the opposite opinion. Apart from a select few dungeons, ARR/HW dungeons were seemingly constructed with the intention of making them enjoyable for every class. In SB, most of the dungeons consist of open space that can be sprinted through, which is nice for tanks and "good" dps, but is always a chore for the healer unless they're a masochist.

I like dps more but only by a little. I like performing well but healing is great because it's easy to play well so even when I'm unfamiliar with the content my performance will be good or better. The queues are a big thing since I work. Also knowing the fight from a dps perspective and a healing perspective are 2 different beasts and knowing the fight as a healer is much easier to me. I however feel like I'm being too hung up on the difficulty of performing content since I want to play as well as possible. However I feel like I should tough it out but I don't have friends to practice content with and pubbing content doesn't lean itself to learning on a blm do well or die gameplay.

Sch is my best healer but I don't like it's effectiveness in this expansion whm almost has as many ogcd heals and a nice regen that is better than the fairy with insane cds. I thought tanks were just squishy but playing whm in trials and dungeons was eye opening. I had a mentally challenged cat pld in sirensong that activated shield oath after the boat crashed on land and I kept him and the members/myself that ripped aggro and gave the most damage. Its not the swap thats hard to do, you use shirk only so both tanks can stay dps stance and max out their damage.

Going tank stance and doing additional aggro combos isnt "harder" to do anon, but you will loose out on dmg.
