It's the only game I can think of that lets you collect and customize martial arts in the way that WotS lets you customize swords and swordplay.
Maybe Jade Empire almost counts but that's got other issues.

Kenka Banchou gets the branching gameplay down pat but I forget how customizable the combat is and it's a highschool delequency setting instead of wuxia besides.

Way of the Samurai 3 is the best of the series. Its Heat mechanic is the only way weapon degradation was done correctly in video games. You cannot unprove this point as every other weapon degrading system in video games is utter shit.

Ive loved what ive done so far in wots3 but ive seem to kind of hit a wall where im just doing shitty jobs every day with no real progressions or inklings or anything. Should i let my dude die and just roll a new playthrough or should i tough it out and wait for developments. I joined ouka clan and a bunch of dudes hate me so I feel like i fucked up.

The antagonist being Jinyiwei and Dong Chang of course, artificially creating conflict between the sects from the backstage so they can move in after Wulin wipes itself out. Unite the sects for true ending, join one and beat the Imperials and make them the dominant clan or go for the lone legend / ditch the Jianghu for a government position ending.
