NG3RE is good if not better than then older games IF, and only IF, you like combat depth. RE has a shit ton of bugs, glitches, exploits, and that's what makes these game last for a long time. That's what keeps people playing muh cuhrayzee action games. Sadly RE went under the radar thanks to vanilla NG3. RE has the most playable characters and they all are fun to play even though they are kinda lacking compared to Ryu.

It has 2 main issues for me:
Chapter 9 is quite bad.
The incendiary shurikens explode on contact with a wall.
As you play it, it will become apparent that the game needed another 6 months or so. The shurikens can be dealt with as you adapt to them, but there's no fixing Chapter 9.
Otherwise, it's great. Fantastic combat, but it's a departure from the first game's style (the overworld structure) and some people didn't like that. I personally like both appraoches.

Shitty level design & enemy encounters really kills NG for me. The original NG felt like an epic action adventure game similar in design to Derp Souls. NG2 felt like a much more faithful rendition of the NES NG games. NG3 has fucking boring arena horde mode level designs similar to the way Doom 2016's levels were made. You just run from point to point and then stay inside a boring battle arena for several minutes where half of the enemies block everything you throw at them.

In the first two NG, you could end all fights in seconds just by timing your slashes and chopping their fucking heads off. You can't do that in NG3RE because their limbs only fly off once you depleted them of their life when takes severals minutes to do rather than seconds.

NG3RE isn't the worst game in the world but it's definitely a shitty Ninja Garden. Hell NG1 & NG2 are often at odds with each other because they're so different but at least neither of them fucked with the overall combat flow like NG3 did.
Most of all I just fucking hate the level design which is the worst aspect of NG3. I'm shocked that no one else has mentioned it so far. NG3's level design was similar to a generic Western Turd person shooter. You just walk from check point to check point until borders show up and lock you up inside an arena. In NG1 & 2 you were constantly attacked on all sides no matter where you were. You sometimes had arena horde matches but they're not as frequent or as telegraphed as they were in NG3. NG1 was mostly an exploration action adventure style game that happened to have a great combat system. NG2 got rid of the exploration and made the entire game center around running, killing & jumping through the entire stage similar to the way the NES games were. NG3, Hayashit just copies what American devs did with their games, but does it much worse. He's just lucky that as bad as NG3 is, it's still not as shitty as Crapcom RE6 campains.

I only played NG3RE (out of the entire modern series). It was pretty bad. Combat can be fun, but everything else like enemies, level design, and bosses drag it down. There's some very strange mechanics that I didn't like, like sword-on-bone counters breaking the pace and being alternately overpowered or inconsistent. Ninja Gaiden is shit. It's worth playing them but keep in mind they're shit and archaic games that are only held up by how good some of the elements within. It's a horrible series that does its best to try and stop the few good parts of it from being good.

So tired of people who hated on Devil's Third without even having played the multiplayer. I pirated it in the brief window where the exploit letting you play pirated game online got released while being before they shut down the servers and it was a blast
The single-player was a shitpile but the multiplayer was far too good for this world and I really was waiting for Devil's Third Online for PC so I could get into it, it had a very MGO2 feel
