I'm already doing that

>>388236348
not possible, steam is already at the top. why bother?

Even though I feel HL3 is confirmed dead at the moment, I still have hope for a game release in the future. The fact Duke Nukem Forever got scrapped like 5 times and the company died out and it STILL manages to see a release is still way more far fetched to me than a company with zero financial troubles and a popular franchise in their hands releasing a game eventually. Even Grimoire released. Anything is possible. They could start from scratch on development 5 years later from today, you never know. I feel like the game eventually has to exist. Something has to come out but who knows when. I just hope Laidlaw releasing the plot didn't finally remove all drive from a Valve picking the project up. There's still a lot of shit unexplained by Laidlaw and it'd still be a great ride.

You should never have installed Steam in the first place idiot.
I can't believe peoples didn't saw this coming back when HL2 came out.

Even if your pathetic half assed boycott happened now, it wouldn't accomplish anything.
Valve already lost most if not all their competent FPS devs. They lost all the main HL writers last month in fact.
>>
>>388237130
Valve will never make another half life game. Let it go.
>>
>>388237395
It's more of speculation than denial. It find it more likely to release than not. Just because it's been pushed back and even completely cancelled at points doesn't mean it will never exist.
>>
We need to kill off Dota 2 to bring back the old Valve. We have to accomplish this by hyping up the competition and playing up every single flaw present in Dota 2. Make shit up if you have to, as long it helps accomplish the objective to kill Dota 2.
>>
>>388237505
They will at least make products in the same universe, I'm pretty sure they already confirmed one Half-Life product.

Yeah, I'm sure all the dudebros and kids who watch crate unboxings and gamble with skins are gonna drop it all for a game they don't even give a shit about
>>
>>388237672
We will just have to spread awareness through social media. Make a big uproar about it, word your messages to make Valve look like the most vile and evil gaming corporation (which isn't even difficult considering Valve's inhuman anti-consumer policies) and do everything to generally crash Valve's public reception.
>>
I think it's hopeless, but we should be doing everything we can to stop this whole retarded hats thing and muh crates.
This shit is completely destroying gaming.
The reason Valve isn't even making games anymore is because people keep buying their hats. TF2, Dota 2 and CS:GO are such large money cows it's insane. Other companies are copying their model.
The only reason they are working on a card game right now is because they want in on that Hearthstone market. They want to sell packs. It has zero to do with any artistic integrity or fun, they're just working on a card game because they saw that in Hearthstone they sell a lot of packs and some cosmetics. Valve's card game will try to outdo them and make even more money by having more shit to sell.
This will continue and this will become more common unless people do something about it.

Never buy crates.
Never buy packs.
Never buy hats.
>>
>>388237505
You could have worked for Valve on HL3 itself with concrete insider information that HL3 was cancelled and even then you'd still have no clue if Half-Life 3 will ever be made. I'm not talking about the scrapped product. I'm saying it's a super popular series and it seems extremely likely they will revisit it in some way in the future and with potential closure.

>>
>>388238229
The problem isn't Valve selling games on Steam.
The problem is Valve ruining the gaming industry by popularizing and advancing the hat model that is making them millions of dollars per second.
I don't care if Steam has a monopoly on the digital distribution market and they take a 30% cut from the sales. It doesn't matter.
>>
>>388238434
People aren't used to ending on a high not for a beloved franchise. They want something to be hammered into the ground to give people a reason not to care.

Even then there will be people saying "the next one could be great IF..."
>>
Just get one of the Half Life games into the top 10 most played Steam games.

A daunting task, but it might yield interesting results.
>>
>>388238313
I think the only realistic outcome is the very faint possibility that someone might pursue making a hl2 mod based around the ending. Beyond that half life is dead, it's time to lay it to rest.
>>
>>388238479
you're deluded if you think anything valve has ever said. especially regardling half life at this point will ever come true lol
>>
>>388238479
Just because he's teasing at one, doesn't mean that they're working on one or even thinking about it. He's just trying to play nice with shareholders.

Valve has not been a game developer for over 10 years, and they never will be.
>>
>>388238313
You may be right, it very well could be shit. I still believe it will exist one day though and when it does come out I'll give it a try. At that point you will find the next big vaporware game to state will never ever exist.

And apparently I'm the one who is delusional for saying there's still a chance of HL3 existing. Artifact isnt a patch, it's a game. They have also confirmed three full experience VR titles, not just tech demos. Actual games with some form of length to them, not like the others with 30 minutes of content.
>>
>>388238857
The issue is that they don't care at all about the gameplay part of their games. Valve literally only ever makes hats, hats, hats, hats, hats, hats, hats, hat, hats, and more hats.

>>
>>388238857
The problem is no games.
Valve used to make games. All companies used to make games. Now many companies are trying to copy Valve and just put out something that preys on cashcows.
The whole industry is going that way. The hats are not that much different from season passes and DLC.
In the past the goal of companies was to make a game and sell as many units of the game as they can, so the game had to be good. That is changing now as more and more companies are less concerned with putting out games regularly that are good enough to sell well, but they're more concerned with putting out one game and milking it to death.
In the past the game was the product. Company A makes game called B and sells 6 million units, great, company A goes to work on their next game. Now the game is just a front for the real product which is cosmetics and DLC.
>>
the only thing that could get HL3 to get made by this point is an outright act of terrorism

Obviously they're trying to bank on the Hearthstone craze, but Artifact isn't going to be a Hearthstone copy. It's going to have ''lanes'' and all sorts of stupid shit taken from Dota 2.
>>
>>388239805
cs players would be more receptive to change if it went through the proper channels that the csgo dev team doesnt even try.

>see: the m4a1s being the defacto best gun when it came out, the cz replacing the p250 slot, the pocket scout deagle update, the revolver destroying the game for a couple days, nerfing the awp movement because of a particular playstyle that was only possible because of skill

all of the above could have been avoided if they just simply talked to pros or had a fucking beta. also AFAIK during csgo's beta there was a private pro forum where pros would actively discuss the game and valve straight up ignored it or some shit and made a lot of 1.6 pros really disillusioned with the game but it was a CGS type deal where the money was in go so people played it anyway.

as for

>game updates dont count

because its mostly maintenance and they don't add a heap of new content every couple of updates. for go it's community made maps and weapon skins every once in a blue moon, for doto its community made cosmetics at a rate im not familiar with so i wont comment.
tl;dr laziness at maximum efficiency
>>
