I watched a few videos of this game and it looked very underwhelming to me. Stuff like roaming around in New Dong City looked really awkward to me and the platforming was mostly non existant, everything revolved around walking from point A to point B and then doing some gimmicks with the hat, reminded me of fucking Yooka Laylee. Other than that, I watched the Mecha Wiggler boss and man that was complete shit, I mean, I surely don't play Mario to shoot shit in first person in what looks worse than a minigame from fucking Banjo Tooie.

People who like Mario&Company already buy Nintendo consoles, those who don't (the majority of the gaming population) aren't bothered. Mario Odyssey won't change that simple dynamic. Just the same when people say Xbox has no games, they are aware that it has Gears, Halo and Forza (let's assume for the sake of argument that they are still exclusives and/or good games), but clinging to less than a handful of franchises for decades isn't going to improve anyone's situation. I personally couldn't give a shit about Mario, Yoshi, Kirby, etc. games, they simply don't appeal to me and platformers are very low of my genre preference list, so I don't buy Nintendo consoles, because that's mostly what they offer.
