Yeah, that's what I mean. Halo is a standard sci-fi military story played straight, but at least it's fun, interesting and expands the universe at time while maintaining mystery. The problem with HL is that Valve were winging it and milked the gman's mysterious element.

I finally realized Half Life was done for sure when Laidlaw left. That was the point when I realized that even if something Half Life related came out, it would be micro-transaction trash.

This leak of Episode 3's plot is not a confirmation of anything, it's just a nice gesture from him to tell us what Episode 3 would have been like, had it come out. It sounds like it would have been pretty cool, and I'm glad I learned of it.

The first 3 years were acceptable. You'd be forgiven for assuming that Episode 3 would take time during that period. Then from that cutoff time until 2013 the genuine questions started to arise, and people genuinely got worried we might never see it, and the memes only escalated. Then when 2013 rolled around and most of the talent left or got fired from Valve it really made the hopes for HL3 hit the gutter. People were denying that it was dead, but in their hearts they knew that even if it weren't, it wouldn't be as good as they hoped for when it comes out.

The moment they decided to profit on gambling addict kids years ago with the TF2 lootcrate system was the confirmation for me.
I still stand by my opinion that Steam has only been successful because it held some good games ransom to a shitty adware(that's what it is) and that it only started working decently in 2007-2008 when they redesigned it, and even then it was stilly buggy as shit.
