I have never been happy with how luck works in games.

It's either pretty much worthless or mandatory. Most games would be better suited with luck as a perk that does narrative things ala wild wasteland in fallout, and fold crit chance into another skill.

If games are going to make that distinction, than agility is usually a flat increase to your base movement and a larger dodge range. Dexterity tends to refer to using certain weapons (think of it as the STR equivalent for bows). Of course, it depends on the game and the genre what each of them do, but a lot of games tend to follow that base.

What are some games where luck isnt completely useless or unremarkable?
I just want to play a risky gamble playstyle but have it actually be worth trying

INT is objectively the most busted stat IRL, followed closely by WIS and your XP level, since it's a multiplier for those stats in general.
You can straight-up go full INT/WIS with negative fucking STR/CON and zero AGI, and you'll destroy everyone because even if you have to fight, you can just convince/hire summons to do it for you.

I beat Earthbound by maxing out luck and never using PSI, just getting constant smashes
Like the fucking giygas fight
It's impossible to beat without the pray thing, so instead I stocked on healing items and got four smashes in a row and fucking beat the literal embodiment of pure hell to death with a child's wooden baseball bat, a pan, a child's fists, and a gun

It's good in Fantasy life. Get better drops plus more crits and just make yourself stronger by crafting, which luck also helps with by making it easier to craft high quality equipment. Drops so good I have more trouble getting enough common ingredients than uncommon.

All points in luck is the objectively superior way to play.
