Why do developers still make 2D games? 3D games are inherently more complex and immersive. Are devs just too lazy? Or are they just nostalgiafags?

I think you just answered your own question

Maybe 3D action-platformers. 3D collectathons are lazy, shallow horseshit, definitely inferior to a good 2D platformer.
Why do faggots still post b8 threads? Actual discussion is inherently more complex and engaging. Is OP just too stupid? Or is he really just a faggot?
Imagine how impressed and hyped people would be by this game if we hadn't seen screenshots and vids from it for like 5 years.

A game being in 2d offers up gameplay not available in 3d. Look at the recent sonic mania. That gameplay for the most part cannot translate well to the 3d titles
i travel a lot and i'll always play 2D when on trains & planes. 3D is begging for motion sickness
>Why do developers still make 2D games?
2D is still viable.
>3D games are inherently more complex and immersive
What is Dwarf Fortress?
>Are devs just too lazy?
They are lazy with 2D games too. They hired hackers to make Sonic mania for them.
>Or are they just nostalgia fags?
2D games haven't died yet. There are still innovative 2D games that have no inspiration
2d is its own distinct style that has proven itself to the test of time. Video games aren't exclusively tech races now. The latest and greatest visuals and fps don't WOW me anymore because it only gives people the same reactions they've had for decades now. Oversaturation of games with THE LATEST AND GREATEST VISUALS is so fucking boring to me at this point. I really enjoy new 2d games like Hyper Light Drifter. It's stuff like that which proves you can still do cool new things with that particular style. And on the other hand, games like Guilty Gear XRD and Dragon Ball FighterZ make excellent use of 3d.
