/v/ hates this game.
Just buy No Man's Sky
>>388025645
can I pirate it to try it or is it always online?
>>388025879
I don't know about that, but it's 45$ on G2A
>>388025645
>>388025879
There's a GOG version, so it's easily to pirate. The online features just won't work for obvious reasons. I pirated it but ended up buying it when it was like $25 recently.

mfw NMS ended up being more fun that E:D

Is it worth playing now after the updates?
I uninstalled it shortly after launch like so many, but I'm curious

Since 1.3, yes.

At first ED looks pretty amazing, especially with VR.
But holy fucking shit it's so repetitive, there's so little variation in the activities you do. And there's only a few different types of stations, which makes it even worse to do anything that requires visiting them.
And exploration is a drag, too, but at least it sometimes leads to pretty nice looking places (in VR).
No Man's Sky is legit more diverse and interesting to play. Go figure.
>>388022340
It's okay if you can get it for a few bucks, avoid otherwise, you'll get plenty of hours out of it until you give up on the dream.
Recommended if you fell for the VR meme, highly recommended if you also have a flight stick.
>unironically shilling NMS
what the fuck happened to this place
>>388027513
>tfw you got a Rift and x52 flight stick for ED
At least I'll be ready for Ace Combat 7, right? R-right?
>>388025879
Always online, even the solo mode.

Its a boring arcade game.
Flight physics are nerfed to fuck so you cant turret this part can be sort of forgiven.
It takes about 45 seconds to jump to a new system. You can only jump to the main star which is why most stations you can land at are at the second star in a binary or trinary system.
Trade is buy from point a, prices go up. Sell at point b, prices plummet. Few days later it resets and you can grind again. Remember though, stations that take longer to get to (binary systems) buy and sell for the exact same amount per station type. Thats right. Did i mention trade is pretty much the only way to amass cash?
Bounty hunting. Its okay. Fun in asteroid fields but the ai tries to avoid flying in them so fights end up above them. Be prepared to be assaulted by the small ships flying solo against ehatever size ship you have.
Pvp is easy to avoid and almost impossible to be fun thanks to the p2p connections.
Universe is affected by solo and open play. In open people can try to attack you but see above. In solo its just you but dont worry your trading, and completing community events is still tracked.
Horizons. A new type of grind on top of the other grind now with the ai getting access to the same things. So pepper your anus.
Mining. The dads cried and ftroop(frontier dev) caved in and made mining tedious. Shoot rock. Send probes to gather shot stuff. Ever 4-5 shot items makes something you can sell. The only thing that matters is asteroid type. You can drop in the same spot bad guys are or you can just find your own spot.

>LIKE, ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO MEET UP, WE REARRANGED THE PERIODIC TABLES SO PLAYERS WILL NEVER MEET UP.
>Two dudes meet up on the same planet within 15 minutes.
Why did people fall for the hype?
>>388027421
This guy gets it. ED is great as a space combat simulator but everything else is so shallow that the average phone game has more depth. Even NMS is more interesting in the long run.
>>388028879
Multiplayer is on the way tho.
>>388028784
>trade the only way to amass cash
Passenger missions are a good earner.
>>388028784
Did i mention thatfun with friends is non existant thanks to the jank of ftroop?
Bounty hunting splits all bounty between you and whoever shot the enemy.
Trading used to have a bonus per teamate, but thanks to ftroop incompetence and nobody having friends that dissapeared.
Mining since probes like to explode all over each other you cant even mine with friends.....you could mine and bounty hunt though, so yeah
>>388028934
I did forget about that.
Passenger and exploration still suffer the 45 seconds of waiting till the next scene loads.
>>388029183
>>388028784
I guess people complained about those retarded decisions and they got shitted all over them?
>>388029565
People did complain. The sad fact is ftroop only listened to the casual audience aka olddads. People that wanted a watered down original version of the game and ftroop was happy to put in even less effort
>>388030326
Ftroop caters hard to these idiots.
Ftroop put in an item that when sold at a station shuts down the services till someone sells a different item. The first item eats your hull.
So a bunch of players got together and shut down a community event. The old dads flying in solo complained to ftroop and ftroop extended the time on the cg and made said bad item not work for the duration. Thats how much ftroop lovea thier olddads and oldads fellate brabo.
is there a space game like freelancer where i can explore a lot of neat places, do some trading, and maybe shoot some aliums? i already played all the x games to death and scam citizen's single player thing is literally never coming out. please no online/pvp i played eve for longer than i care to mention and i'm quite burned out on that aspect.

Fuck that game
you can convince me to sell a game
but can you convince me to make it?
no, you cannot
I want to buy it but it seems scary
Play Rebel Galaxy instead
>>388030661
>The old dads flying in solo complained to ftroop and ftroop extended the time on the cg and made said bad item not work for the duration. Thats how much ftroop lovea thier olddads and oldads fellate brabo.
You are kind of misrepresenting the facts. What they said is the particular thing that got shutdown by that bad item and interfered with the CG was an oversight and never intended. They still left the other things that get shutdown by that bad item as is and CG mission board notices now warn that player action can interfere with CGs when applicable.
Honestly, what FD really needs to let go of is people "skipping the progression". Let players exchange cash already. Let players put out bounties on other players. The crime and punishment system in the game is utter shit and they are reluctant to implement mechanisms that will allow for a player run one. They are making it so easy to make cash these days anyway so I don't even know why they are holding on to it so hard and they've still got shit like their precious engineer grind.
Can be awesome with friends and the right set up, even on your own you can enjoy some pretty cool moments. I had a great time making tons of cash blowing shit up at conflict zones and buying all the best ships although I lost interest after that. I see they are introducing more narrative driven content which might be interesting but not enough to pull me back in at the moment.
>>388022340
It's an okay game, but it does feel really shallow in the long, long run. Just mind that all these fags ITT shitting on it most likely have hundreds of hours on record.
New patch might bring some interesting stuff.
What's with NMS spamming anyways.
>>388031731
that game was boring as shit and had one of the worst soundtracks I've ever fucking heard
>>388032281
>>388031952
Game could really use more player interaction I agree.
In my opinion it's one of the main things keeping it one of them "almost there, but not quite yet" games.
>>388032537
if I wanted to play a game with only two degrees of movement I wouldn't be playing a fucking spaceship game
it was shit, and the soundtrack was even worse, if you actually like that buttrock I suggest you do the world a favor and off yourself before you can spread your shit taste to anyone else
>>388032801
At least they changed direction and are improving existing gameplay instead of adding new, shallow gameplay mechanics
