What clan were you? I finished this for the first time last month as a gangrel. I actually enjoyed the combat somewhat but the gangrel transformation power is so shit. You can never land the last hit because of how fucking slow it is.

What was your first ending, since you said you reloaded to see the others? Personally I went Lone wolf,
seemed appropriate for a gangrel as well. If o had to have chosen though I would have sided with the camarilla.

Nosferatu are underrated they have good disciplines, their unique interactions are fun and you don/t even have to actually use the sewers because as long as you won't bump directly into someone you won't get a masquerade violation since it seems everyone in VTMB should wear glasses.

Hollywood minus sewers and most of Chinatown is okay but it starts to lose the goth feel. The game definitely dips a bit but I think one reason is not having the darker goth feel that Santa Monica and downtown have.

This is a list of all things I can imagine beind related:
Talk to Strauss about the prince, make him say that he doesn't like the prince, and be nice to Strauss (don't side with the prince or similar), also say that you support the camarilla instead of the anarchs.

Talk to him and agree to solve the plague side quest in downtown, finish the quest and talk to him.

Do the Golem quest in Hollywood, discover in the process that Strauss is behind the Golem (you should have picked a book about golens in Stauss place before, confront Strauss about it, and pass some skill check to make him admit it), destroy the golem, don't tell the Baron that it was Strauss golem, and talk to Strauss.

In the end in the conversation with the Taxi driver, tell that you still suport the camarilla, but not the prince.

If you did all this things, I don't know what could have been the problem.

That said, I think it's one of the most boring endings. (Even if perhaps it's the "best ending" to the character).

Not exactly but The Asylum, the beach at night playing Darling Violetta, the seedy blood bank, the abandoned downtown building and the Confession club fit more into a goth style than Hollywood and Chinatown. Hollywood and Chinatown start to feel like normal places, just at night. SM and downtown are darker and seedier and feel a bit more goth-y.

I can't say about being 3rd gen or not, but even being a powerful vampire, being in stupor, and being cain the one who controlled the whole thing, I don't think it was in a dangerous situation. Prince, Ming etc., they wouldn't dare to mess around with something like that just for a ruse. But Caine? It's not obvious to me that he wouldn't.

One thing that sucks about this game (which is really kind of a complement) is that the game has so many great characters that get way too little screentime.

Almost every character you run into is interesting, then you do a quest or two for them and then they vanish out of the story. You basically are LaCroix errand boy for the entire game. A lot of characters that get introduced feel like they're gonna play a bigger part then they end up doing.

It's not really something that can be fixed because the game would have to be 10 times bigger but it's a shame nonetheless.

Just stick with the Revised Edition era books. That seems to be the pinnacle of the series. The first and second editions have a lot of 90s schlock written by some pretty crappy freelancers. Install the latest version of Wesp's unofffical patch, not the Beta version.

Run the patch installer and install it on the game's folder. Pick basic version instead of Plus version, Plus adds some new things but a lot of them are sort of questionable so it's better to save that for a replay.

I'll never be part of the fandom because I still haven't forgiven VTMB for the fact that on my first run-through, I made a character who could not complete the game.

Fortunately it does have a god mode cheat, so at least there is that option if you have made a social character.

I like to go in blind without reading builds and shit. Believe it or not, most games - i.e. finished games - can accommodate this approach.

The game doesn't intuitively lead you towards it either. You can get by fine with just 3 (if I remember) points in your melee stat. Then there's a sudden difficulty spike when you fight the Japanese vampire boss, and it's impossible.

The sheriff wasn't even a challange compared to Xiao,it took me at least 5 to 6 tries to find a weakness in her move set and to proper exploit it(I kept on her back shoting and I used the flametrower for last),I had to use a good amount of my ammo to beat her.She was tough as nails to beat.
