If you can go a 6gb over 3gb gpu. Most games for higher settings already demand far more than 2gb of vram atleast. Also a quad-core cpu is already a general requirement, getting 4 core 8 thread at-least if possible would be a good idea. I know because i have a 2nd gen i5 (2500k) at 4.5 ghz and even with the overclock some games just hit a core-count bottleneck where there's nothing left for it to give. I got a friend who got the 4c8t ryzen 1500, and he's said it's been a massive upgrade over the i5 2400 he had (oc'd to around 4ghz) even with the r5 1500 at like 3.4ghz it still beats the old cpu in framerates easily.

Ryzen is a huge upgrade over the FX series chips. Their weak single-core performance was massively overhauled, Ryzen is pretty close to a 6xxx/7xxx series intel in terms of single core, it just loses out in overall performance at higher clocks because they will at best clock to around 4ghz, whereas intel chips clock to around high 4ghz (4.2+ usually).
