Only in the sense that if you were to assign "quality points" to every song and then tally them all up by franchise, SMT would probably come out on top due to having good music and a fuckton of games. You could argue the previous Persona titles have a better ost depending on your taste. It really changes from game to game. The PSP remaster of Persona 1 also has amazingly catchy music. You should definitely check it out.

Beyond Persona, both Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga ( >>387955243 )
have amazing OSTs too. Its all Shoji Meguro so no surprises there.

Other games with amazing OSTs are Xenosaga, Nier / Nier Automata, Final Fantasy X and VII (the remastered tracks anyways) and all of Kingdom Hearts.

Its not that P5 gas a bad OST, but there are many amazing ones out there.

DeSu1 is so good, I can't wait to get my hands on Break Record.

I liked it so much than in fact I did not mind that the version we got in Europe had gamebreaking bugs.

When it released the function to summon demons mid-battle made the game freeze, rendering it unusable. Thus, you had to beat the whole game without switching demons or calling for backup which made the game so much harder. I still beat it 3 times though.

DDS is short but it's one of those "it's two games but one story" kind of games, The sequel literal continues basically immediately after 1. DDS1 and DDS2 form one complete jrpg.

Yes, both really.

DDS easily has one of the best stories and cast of any RPG of the PS2 era, which by itself is saying a lot. The combat system is very similar to Nocturne but introduces new skills and mechanics that make the game less frustrating while keeping more or less the same difficulty. New balance means organizing a good defense is paramount and strategy is emphasized.

I haven't played Raidou, but I'm dying to because it is very removed from SMT's usual plotlines.

Both. Personally, I find DDS very underwhelming but it's still worth playing, I certainly wouldn't call it bad even if I do think it's nothing special. Raidou's combat is pretty bad, but still pretty inoffensive, and everything that's not the combat is great.

Raidou 1's gameplay is a bit archaic but it's a pretty good game none the less. You might have to muscle through some parts but it is well worth it.

Raidou 2 improves on it in literally every way. Combat is better, the story is great and genuinely one of, genuinely maybe THE best story in a SMT game, and a phenomenal soundtrack. Probably the most complex law and chaos reps in the entire series as well, I was surprised by how good they were.

Let's not go crazy here. I'd say even Raidou 1 had a better story. Dahn and Akane are good, probably because neither of them of full blown Chaos or Law, but I still think they're a little underwhelming, but maybe that's just because there are a lot of really good characters in Raidou 2 so Dahn and Akane don't shine as much.

Start with Raidou 1 for sure though, the improvements from 1 to 2 will make playing 1 after 2 pretty annoying. Not to say Raidou 1 is bad, it is a excellent game, but it does show it's age a fair bit.

I didn't find the system too grindy because I specialized in Devour skills. Its a cool character archetype to play too, very in theme as well.

You can't deny the character customization was top notch though, being able to mix and match any skills you've unlocked really improved the gameplay.

What? SMT games are barely connected unless it is a clear case like DDS and Raidou where rhe second games literally have a 2 in their title. Basically as IV:A showed us basically every game is in its own universe. Only people like Stephen and Mido are the same across all games, Atlas has said those two are the same person in every game.

No it forced you to grind if you didn't have the right Mantras for a particular boss, unless you were clairvoyant and not consulting a guide you were going to be grinding at some point in the DDS games which is a massive flaw especially for a MegaTen game which have historically had no grinding since you just fuse, fuse, fuse to get the stuff you need.
