I agree with so many points. I'm playing through all the 2d oldschool sonics to get ready for mania. I liked 1 and loved 2. /v/ hyped sonic 3 so much that I assumed it would be better than two... nope.

The only thing I agree with is Sonic's sprite being ugly in 3.

Angel Island is a bit lack luster, but Hydrocity, Ice Cap, and Launch Base are all great.

Sonic the Hedgehog is still best though.

The original Hard Times is a cool as fuck song, I'll give you credit on that. On the other hand, the Ice Cap version of the song simply gets obnoxious for me after a while. What's wrong with Angel Island? I found it to be pretty interesting compared to the previous two starting zones which were more or less the same.
The part with the bomber is a bit boring when you aren't a kid awed by the spectacle anymore but it's only fifteen seconds or so tops.

I just beat CD.
The artstyle is really good stuff, but the levels are pretty meh.
It's boring as hell until Wacky Workbench which is a 6/10, then Stardust and Metallic are 8/10s.

If not for the good music, cool pixel art and animated cutscenes, this game would be trash.

The game looks cool but way to busy. The cd levels in mania are obnoxious because its simply just hard to see. CD is where they forgot that sonic needed to be visible in the environment clearly at all times. I cant think of any other sonic game that had this problem
