I just bought this game. It's pretty overwhelming even with the gated features tied to population. My first town looks like hot garbage and is on the verge of bankruptcy. I think I'll have to go look up some guides.

Grids are bad but it's really one of the only ways I can build. I need to upload some more from my mod maps though. They're way more pretty.

Is there much point to setting up districts? I always forget to do so.

That's one of the easiest parts of the game. Just slap down some lines of pipes and hook up pumps/outlets accordingly (and don't put pumps downstream from your outlets, retard). Electricity is even easier, when brownouts start happening just place more power plants and make sure everything is connected either via proximity or power lines. Traffic is where everything really gets fucked, if you struggle with water you have no chance.

Is vanilla+mods on it's own worth it? Got enough Steambux for the base game but none of the DLC's and I don't have any spare real money atm. Would pirate it but then the mod pool goes down substantially, from what I can tell it's all on the Workshop.
