GOAT yugioh game
>>
>>387758548
You have problems man
>>
I've heard of this game and how it's a little odd, but can someone explain why this is such a feat? Is their actual artificial difficulty in this game? Is it glitchy?
>>
3 years sounds about right

I wouldnt mind breaking that disk too if I beat the damn game.

I think I reached only the second last duel, I just didnt care enough to grind out some bullshit magic card already had 3 meteor black dragons.
>>
>>387759742
Haven't played it, but if I recall the AI has access to the entire cardlist at once rather than set decks and is programmed to always counter you, so it can pull whatever bullshit it wants at any time and if you rush too hard you can easily make a match unwinnable.
>>
>>387759742
You need to grind to an almost unprecedented extent to get strong enough cards to advance. If you don't it's very literally impossible to win.
>>
>>387760059
Why would anyone care about this when there are dozens of yugioh games with better card pools many of them which are easily emulatable or even free.

From what I've seen though yugioh players tend be incredible stupid people though.

really shitty footage but you can see how the AI cheats, it can swap cards on the fly as >>387760018 pointed out
>>387760267
this legit isn't even a yugioh game, the rules are totally different
>>
>>387760267
I don't know. The only appeal I can think of is the challenge involved. Some people want to go where no one else has gone.
>>
>>387760267
You don't have to be a YuGiOh fan to enjoy Forbidden Memories.
>>
>>387760408
Well if the challenge is grinding there's you're better off playing a proper grinding game like a dungeon crawler. Hell even if you insist on playing a grinding card game there's heaps of those. Most of the handheld yugiohs (which feature better card pools) seem to have mandatory grinding to advance the story and online card games require you grind out your card pool to stay competative.

I'd wager it's people that are just trying to rekindle some happiness they can't obtain anymore.

You can summon anything monster, regardless of level, without tributes.

The bad news is that high level opponents have Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon cards.

What's more, someone tested the game with cheats that make opponent's cards visible, and it turns out that the computer can literally transform any of his cards to whatever he wants.
>>
>>387760401
I always imagined that the rules of the game were supposed to be the developers' idea of how the original dueling game from Egypt in the anime was played.
>>
>>387760648
>I'd wager it's people that are just trying to rekindle some happiness they can't obtain anymore.

No child was happy while playing Forbidden Memories.
>>
>>387759742
The game cheats constantly by having your opponent place cards it doesn't actually have in their hand. In other words they can have one of their strongest cards come out turn 1.
In Japan I hear it was pay to win.
You need like a million star chips to buy 1 decent card, and each match gives you 1~5 based on how you do.

Each match takes a good amount of time. But in the US they never released the thing required to pay to win so we were stuck with an extremely difficult game.

After 300+ wins against Meadow Mage we had 3 MBD too. We grinded Pegasus about 100 times, draw out. Got 2 bright castles and a dragon treasure. Just inched by.

>>387759742
You start the game with 300 attack monsters. Opponents very quickly get 2800+ attack monsters. The card game isn't actually Yugioh. It's chinese knock off Yugioh. Play it. Suffer.

Sounds to be like it's just bad programmers taking short cuts.

Rather than create inidvual decks, see that the shuffling algorithm is good, that the decks are well designed the ai just produces cards out of thin air.

No reason to deal with the summoning mechanics when you just get rid of them.

Yugioh would probably be the worst game ever to program accuratly, last time I played it the ways chains resolved even differed depending on whether it was Western or JP rules. In addition there's a lot card interactions which would require their own special programming. And than you need to program the ai to be able to make choices about all this stuff; which they never hense all yugioh ai sucks and can be beaten just by letting it over extend and punishing

And why bother making the game good in the first place when the fans have shown they will buy anything. Most of the yugioh games appear to be shovelware.

I fucking love your friendship and I wish I could have seen this beautiful moment unfold.
>>
>>387759742
not glitchy, theres no effect monsters so the way game is played involved making fusion monsters from a garbage deck and theres some monster zodiac sign system that has chance to boost stats against other sign.

its hard because theres not many magic cards, cards are slow and hard to obtain anything useful its 1 card per duel. The storymode duels go from very easy to just brutal and unfair very fast.

I wasnt surprised when i heard of the AI cheating. somehow they manage to draw a gate guardian 1st turn every fucking time and i grinded 3 meteor black dragons in like 2-3 months theres no way to beat it without some magic field card or some bullshit trap thats almost impossible to get.

The card codes lets you buy cards grinding duels however its 9999999999 chips 5 chips each duel so dumb

>>387760985
you can get all cards legit with pocket station in the japanese version, you make a trade like: 3 blue eyes white dragon + ultimate blue dragon ritual = blue eyes ultimate dragon
in the american version theres a huge blank chunk in the options menu, there was the pocket station option,we are only left with Mono/Stereo sound option

>>387761096

It was designed before the actual card game. There are zero effect monsters in the game. Thus the game is an ATK arms race. There are magic and trap cards, but there's a catch to this I'll get to later.

Straight out the gate, AI decks usually have cards more powerful than yours. Because this is prototype YGO, there's no tributing or any bullshit to summon monsters. So they shit out their absurdly powerful monsters while you're stuck with your 500 ATK garbage.

But then you learn about fusing. You spend hours reading the fusion guide on GameFAQs and finally start making progress. Hey they game is actually fun now!

Then you hit the mid game. Suddenly fusioning doesn't cut it any more. The best thing you can fuse is a 2800 ATK dragon. The AI decks have raw 3000+ ATK cards, no fusion required on their part.

The solution? Gotta farm some magic and trap cards. To increase your odds of getting one of these after a battle, you need to deck your opponent. This is incredibly difficult because you always go first, and the ai has such powerful monsters they rarely need to fuse in the first place. And this is only to have a chance at getting a trap or spell card, you won't always get one.

You can also farm a gate guardian, but it's a 1/256 chance from an extremely tough opponent (hint, he has it in his deck). Good luck with that.

Then there is the final gauntlet. You have to win 6 battles in a row, 7 if you missed an earlier optional fight, against opponents with extremely stacked as fuck decks. Lose once? You have to do the whole thing all over again. As other people said, the AI also cheats like a motherfucker.

Game is shit. Don't play it, even ironically. It's all we had when we were younger.

There is a hardware sold only in Japan that let you scan your cards, so you dont have to use 9999999 stars
>>
>>387758548
I never got past the first future arc in this game. I remember only getting like 5 stars per win, but if you wanted good cards you had to scan their real life versions in but the best ones like Blue Eyes cost 9999 stars or something?

Is this game even beatable without cheats?
>>
>>387761846
>9999

It's 999999999. If it was 9999 we would have had a blue eyes.
