>no subclassing
>no grimoires
Will it be the first truly balanced Etrian Odyssey?
>>387741760
no, but who cares about balance in EO?
>>387742376
I do
>>387742512
it's a single player game though
>>387741760
>No grimoires
Playin untold 1, grimoire stones seems like a hassle, should i even pay attention to them?
>>387742640
You should care about balance insofar as stuff like immunize in EO1 and beast from EO2 never happening again. Outside of that though, i hear you
>>387742715
I just finished it, didn't use them at all and had no problems
>>387742715
more or less, they're more unimportant(and a hassle to use) in 1 than in 2
>>387741760
So EO5 removes the two major additions from 3 and 4, subclassing and free-roam exploration. Here's the question: what does it offer to fill the void?
>>387742930
Promotions
Uhh
I don't know all that's in the game yet, at least we're back to a 30 floor dungeon.
>>387742930
it's got five floors per stratum again
>>387742930
Each class has 2 specialization trees that you have to choose between. For example, Fencer has a tree that makes them better fighters and a tree that makes them dodge tanks
>>387742930
A racial system and advanced classes. Its a bad trade but its something.
You can change the races to the classes they can't normally pick to get some wacky stats on classes if you want. Its a bad idea for most of them but for a few its pretty viable. Each race also has some unique skills the others can't get.
Advance classes are cool on paper but truthfully they don't offer anything that couldn't have been done with the more typical skill tree, other than locking you out of certain choices.
Do we know how union skills work?
>>387742930
Potatoes.
>>387743337
>You can change the races to the classes they can't normally pick
Is that something you have to unlock later in the game?
>implying that breaking the game isn't 90% of the fun it provides
>>387742376
It's pretty much why the game is so good. Compare it to anything that experience Inc has ever done and you'll see the vast difference of a good balance over a game made with dev's butts.
I mean, unless you're searching for optimal party builds online of you get really clever/lucky with how you choose your team and distribute skill points the game will still be a solid challenge. People get all bent out of shape about broken setups when most probably wouldn't even know they existed if they didn't look them up on the internet.
>>387742930
Big fat tits.
>>387745765
Borderline useless classes like Wildlings and Beasts bother me more than broken setups.
