Enhanced Edition basically does nothing except for add mods you can add yourself in ten minutes, change the character graphics to clash with the background, add several useless "quality of life" buttons that don't matter (like quick loot), add two cringemaster companions that add nothing to the story, and change the cutscene and narration for absolutely no reason other than to justify to the investors why they took up the project in the first place.
Baldur's Gate is pointless to play now, honestly, it wasn't very good back in the day but it was all we had. Even Icewind Dale series is more worthwhile.

Siege of Dragonspear, the one game Beamdog had full creative control over, is a bad game on its own. The only fun you have in it, is fun you would have in (modded) BG anyway.

Generally the "Enhanced Content" clashes with the rest of the gameworld, both thematically and in quality and adds little of value. Like a gut of specialised items that give +1 on a stat, but +2 if an obscure character class has been chosen. NPCs that speak like modern day Californian valley girls. Then there are the logical fallacies and flat out ignorance of the gameworld, like established characters acting very, very unusual just to make some of the new NPCs work.

Another point you'll notice is that the new NPCs and party members often push a certain political view. Like lesbians being accepted in a faux medieval setting like they're nothing special. Even and especially when those new characters go against the logical consistency of the game world and setting.

Siege of Dragonspear for example has a transsexual cleric/vendor, that moralises to you the notion that it's possible to switch gender without switching sex, i.e. the idea that both are seperate things.
That's bad in several regards. First of all, Faerun is a world with literal gods and wizards. A permanent shapechange is well within the means of a mid level cleric, yet this one did not do that. Secondly, BG has a strong tradition of transfering items and stats between games. One of the most memorable items in all of BG is likely the girlde of sex change. An item that once equipped changes the wearers physical sex as long as worn. In the 90s it was added as a joke, but virtually everyone who played BG knows of that otherwise useless girdle. Instead of giving that item now a proper function, Beamdog doesn't even acknowledge its existance. Proof that Beamdog does not care about transsexuals.
