Preordered that shit. That said I'm not expecting much with its budget pricetag, and because I've replayed Yakuza 1 twice. It really comes from small beginnings and doesnt have much going on compared to its sequels.

High 70s, because cutscene animations are straight from original version.
I don't really care about metacritic, though.

Got the steel book ordered online. Finished 0 a few weeks back and thoroughly enjoyed it. An anon got me to play the original about a year ago and I had a fun time with the cheesy dub voices but didn't get far (sneaking into the funeral and fighting my way out was the last bit I recall). I'm glad to have some more context on Majima, Awano, Nishiki, Dojima, and Kashiwagi characters from playing 0, so I'm looking forward to Kiwami.

Ideally the best way to play is 1 > 2 > Kenzan > 3 > 4 > 5 > Ishin > 0 > Kiwami > 6 as you see the full evolution of the series through the gameplay and quality of life iterations, both good and bad. Second best way would be 0 > Kiwami > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6 if you strictly want just the main story, you just have to deal with going from the modern gameplay and the gameplay quality taking a bit of a dive before getting back to how it was. Dead Souls would be thrown in between 4 and 5 on the ideal way though it is completely not needed and mainly shows you how they improved the entire shooting system it had in 5's Saejima hunting game.

Black Panther games are just side games with a completely different fighting system and I don't think the characters are actually tied to anything in the main series (Though there are probably references). I know 3 has a crazy amount of Kenzan references (Musashi moves that Kiryu has for the rest of the series, flavor text in some of the swords and items alludes to Musashi having wielded them, Komaki's entire area is literally just a concrete Kenzan dojo, etc) and I assume 0 has tons of Ishin stuff as well.

It's not like it's a major dip or anything, you just lose tons of minigames, heat actions, and general polish you get with the later games and you slowly get them back game by game. One thing you might take for granted is how you can combo easily (Punch forward, punch behind you, punch forward, finisher behind you) which only really got polished starting with 5 since back in 2 through 4 you basically locked in place and elbowed a guy or flipped around to kick instead of the combo continuing and it acted like a separate attack. If I remember right it got better with 4 but it still wasn't to the level it was in 5, and in 5 you still feel like you get "stuck" a tiny bit in the animation but you can at least continue from it properly. Styles also weren't even a thing until Kenzan, then that went away until Ishin (So they're not in 3, 4, or 5, only weapons are).

I know I'm making it sound worse than it is, as long as you like the series you will definitely stick it out, plus every single game has enjoyable characters and really silly stuff from time to time and I've enjoyed the hundreds upon hundreds of hours I've gotten from them so far.

Ishin doesn't let you take screenshots outside of Premium Adventure according to one of the guys who beat it here (Which means you either leave substories until that point or you don't get screenshots of them).
Japanese 0 and Kiwami heavily restricted the Share button uses as well so it's exactly like Ishin was.
6 was the first time you could actually screenshot story stuff in Japan if I remember right.

Keep in mind Japanese 0 also has the gigantic black "Sega" square on everything when you take a screenshot which was patched in the first month on western 0 for just the "Sega" text instead, and I think we can take screenshots without restrictions.

Akiyama is literally the best character in the entire series, I love that man dearly. Heart of gold, fun playstyle, fantastic voice, and he gets the best scenes with Hana. After that Pocket Racer is in your gang. I was very surprised by his inclusion in six. I was very happy about it. You, like any shonen hero awaken his inner beast. Great stuff. Fuck what everyone says about Ryuu ga Gotoku 6. It delivered everything I could want. I'm certainly looking forward to the future of the series.
As for Kiwami, it isn't as polished as Zero, but it is still a good game. I bought the super mega version for dirt cheap off play asia a year ago. I came with a sake cup. It's pretty neat. I'd probably actually use it if I were a drinker.

Kiwami isn't as good as Zero, but it isn't bad. They re-recorded everything and it certainly looks and sounds better, but Zero had so much to draw from since it was a prequel made so far into the franchises life. Zero is without a doubt a tighter game that Kiwami, but Kiwami is worth a budget price for sure.

Most of the games are a good bit of fun. And I think that I like six the most. Only things I would change would be multiple playable characters. Akiyama would have made a great playable character. I actually thought that was going to happen at a few points in the game. But this was the end of Kiryu's story so I wasn't too miffed at the missed opportunity.

1 is confirmed to have the main story done and the patch comes out three months after 6 if no one helps the guy on the GBATemp thread out with translations/Kanji issues. Full translation is up to someone stepping up tot he plate, now 2 is the only one we need to worry about for the main story.

Plus we can always hold out a fool's hope Nagoshi takes pity on us and fully remasters them.
