Why the fuck would I spend money on loot boxes? No really, honest question, I don't understand the reasoning behind it.
The whole point of the game it to play it, and you get loot boxes by playing, so who gives a shit enough to pay for them or at least, not use the ingame currency you get, again, by playing anyway? Is jerking off to Mercy's feet that urgent to people even though you don't even see the character while playing?

Always a bit shocking when looking at numbers. But it's explained by a simple fact. In modern society, the more people earn money the bigger their budget allowed to entertainment get. A nerd will have video games as main hobby and if he mainly plays a single game it adds up very quickly (if we consider an average of money spent/time played as constant).
>>
>>387688280
>Not if its for virtual items.
That's even worse. Governments should look into this.
>>
>>387688458

They forced any kind of virtual gambling such as CS:GO treasures to publish the odds for any of the items.
I agree tho countries who are not allowing gambling to minors should be more strict against virtual gambling.

I've been playing since beta on League of Legends and have spent probably upwards of 3,000 dollars. This is over the course of I guess 7-8 years. So I guess 3 grand over that many years could be seen as worth it.

I have every obtainable skin and can now get every skin at a heavy discount through hextech boxes which is the bright side I guess. Benefits of being a whale.
>>
>>387685731
>E-Gatchas
Are those like fingerboxes?
>>
I only spend money on it if I get extra money in some kind of free way. Like once I found a twenty on the ground outside my house and bought 10 bucks of lootboxes in OW. During Halo 5's launch I played in a GameStop tournament of Halo 3 and won 30 microsoft bux, which I then used in the game on some gold packs. Etc.

I'd never actually spend the money I earn on this bullshit.

Yeah I think I have around 6000-7000 normal games and maybe equal if not more ranked games.

I spent a bit on Overwatch too but I think unlike League, that really killed my desire to play the game. Lootboxes on level up in Overwatch just felt like shit because I spent 100-200 on them in the beginning. I really regret that choice.

I don't really regret spending it on League though. It also makes me avoid being toxic because of fear of losing this fucking account. I'd probably off myself.

I always kind of wonder if there's some kind of privilege levels in the background for accounts that have spent a ton of money. Like do I get a little more leeway in League with toxicity because I'm a cash cow for them? Or I suppose they're so big, they probably don't give a fuck.

Makes me wonder if there are any games where developers treat people that pay up differently. I mean I know in PUBG the situation with streamers is kind of that way.

Literally nothing, even in situations where doing so might have actually gotten me things I wanted.

I stopped playing Pokemon TCG Online when daily quests stopped being convenient to do, meaning earning card packs for free took forever. I really enjoyed the game too, so it's a shame I just couldn't bring myself to start paying for cards.

I also have about 700 hours in Overwatch and love the game, but have never been able to convince myself buying a lootbox is worth it. And thanks to how long I've played I actually now have LESS reason to pay real money for them thanks to having a huge stockpile of credits.

Gacha just does not seem like a worthwhile investment to me no matter what scenario. The fact you're not even guaranteed to get something you want makes me question why you would even consider spending money for it.

I've spent #350 on TF2 in the past decade, 30$ on CS:GO cases, and 20$ on Overwatch lootboxes. While not technically gacha machines I bought a 20$ pack for Tribes Ascend. I'm not proud of the TF2 thing (I got a Vintage Tyrolean with Circling Hearts from my first unbox and never got an unusual again), but I don't really have as big an issue with people spending money on virtual items. I feel like everybody gets their enjoyment out of things somehow and buying cases in moderation isn't the worst way to spend your money, could be buying lotto tickets and getting 0 cents back instead of like 8.

Game development expanded because video games did. You have teams developing games worth hundreds of millions of dollars. They're going to try to milk the game as much as they can. This usually involves microtransactions and planned content in the form of DLC packs.

Back in the day you used to buy 100% complete games but their life cycle would be vastly diminished because of it. With some exceptions that have great replay value, you'd normally play a game for 10ish hours and be done with it. Now they want games to last months and months to make the investment of video game development worth it.
>>
>>387685731

It's always consumers rewarding scummy business practices that leads to disaster. If nobody had bought Oblivion's fucking horse armor we wouldn't have DLC. If nobody would fall for this cosmetic gacha shit, every fucking online game and their mother wouldn't be plagued with it.
