OP here, that's the only reason i restarted it today, i saw the remaster coming and wondered if it was different to the pc version, playing it at 4k looks amazing so sticking with it, but would recommend on ps4 if you don't have a pc.

I started it today, barely done anything but had fun with character creation.

I'll be honest it's a very niche game 6-7/10 at best. The the world feels empty, the quests are boring, trekking everywhere before ng+ is a chore. But despite that it's one of my most played games. The combat is fun, no class feels useless, grinding is minimal, the day night cycle is great, climbing bosses is amazing, probably the best dlc I've played in a long time, and a story that is absent for most of the game but I loved when it did show up.

It makes a few enemies into massive damage sponges and bolsters their attack power significantly from what little I played with it. Maybe they become a bit more manageable once you reach a higher level, but having to hit a bandit (who can one shot you at any given time) for several minutes straight was not fun.

My only gripe with DDDA is that it feels massively incomplete. Like, you could tell more was intended for it's world, but they didn't have time and we got this big empty space.

1: use periapts
2: use throwblasts
3: skulls for cursed debuff
4: blast arrows if too fucking tired to deal with it
5: maker's finger if I'm too lazy to even use blast arrows

Running's an option too, I guess.

After over 500 hours in this game, the variety of tools you can use in combat is far more appealing to me than the actual controls. I just wish it wasn't a matter of opening your inventory to do everything.

It's definitely a game that ran out of money or time or both, but it's got the makings of a fantastic introduction to a series. The sequel doesn't need to be anything more than a technical improvement in a new land with a different plot. Hell, it could use the same cosmogony for the plot, just change up the characters and add a twist or something, then once you've (hopefully) established the franchise and worked out the kinks, start getting creative and differentiating the third game and so forth from the first and second.

My biggest fear is that DD will become Capcom's The Legend of Zelda.
