The rose colored glasses are mostly due to the juxtaposition between DaS2 combat and BB. It's night and day and BB plays much better and more smoothly. It's not perfect, given the framerate issues and rather samey areas. Still well above an average game and imo better than any souls game.

I've never played any of the other souls games and I think BB is great. It feels like the proper modern 3D equivalent of Castlevania SOTN, but way harder and with added multiplayer and a random dungeon system and and all this extra depth to the weapons from the blood gem system combined with your stats
