I feel your pain, Anon. I just did the DLC missions and it's killing me that despite knowing how to write an interesting story and design interesting worlds and levels, they still managed to fuck everything else up and kill the series.

They very pretty clear that they were making 3 games after HR. And yet people still act like the ending is the worst thing ever.

I liked the game. Yes, I wish the focus was more on the main story, but the amount of side quests was pretty cool as well. People always find something to complain about.

so is this game worth playing if I really enjoyed HR? I was really hyped for this but it looks like the jewish publishers actively tried to ruin the series

how's the gameplay and level design? I can probably stomach a lackluster mainstory if the game is fun to play, good side quests are a bonus too
>>
Glad I avoided this shit.

Look forward to Cyberpunk instead.
>>
>>387592505
level design and sidequests is exactly why the game is great despite the story being shit. it's a more polished HR in that regard
>>
>>387591907
The backlash to the "Augment your preorder" and leaked information about project being rushed, where devs basically came out before the release and said the game was split in two caused shitty sales. Also the devs were actively fighting execs over microtransactions.

It's a half-finished wasted opportunity where you can tell the devs did genuinely try but executives fucked them up the ass with no lube. It could of been an easy 10/10 goty but evidently someone in charge of making the decisions was incompetent.
>>
>>387592505
but to answer your question more directly,

The side quests are ok, I still had to force myself to use any of the fancy augmentations apart from a ranged hacking ability. They also waste two really nice levels, one which could of been a top tier second hub.
>>

I'm still mad about this, especially after A Criminal Past was so damned good for a DLC.

Deus Ex used to be about red pilled people working against globalists and their mass media puppets, now it's about promoting George Soros and CNN.

It's sad to watch the globalists take over a weapon that was being used against them. If there's ever another Deus Ex, Jensen will be gone and the plot will have to do with accepting trannies or some garbage.
>>
>>387594242
Even without that stuff it wouldn't have been successful (see dishonored).
The core of the issue was making a direct sequel few years too late.

It wouldn't have bothered me that much if the game had been trash, I'd rather keep the franchise dead than zombie.
The saddest thing is that the game is actually fucking great at most things. The empty story and lack of levels was just a consequence of it being being split, but the actual game design and side-quests are still amazing. Golem City is one of the best levels I've ever seen.
>>
>>387598090
It's pretty good, the change of scenery to Prague from the last one taking place in Detroit is slightly baffling and "Muh Racism Commentary" might put you off even if you're not one of these anti-sjw people since it's not handled very well, but otherwise it's a solid 8/10 game.
>>
Any tips for ghost/pacifist run ?
>>
>>387599227
Don't use any augmentations because the game becomes too easy.

If you're talking about the original Deus Ex, that also applies, but instead of not using augs, only save after level transitions.
>>
>>387590936
>I TRUSTED THEM AFTER HUMAN REVOLUTION

Well there's your problem.
Human Revolution was shit.
>>
>>387598359
A lot of people complain about the political commentary, but I honestly doubt they even played the game. I was actually surprised and even a bit dissappointed there was none in the game (dissappointed because the game is just thematically empty). There was more social commentary in the marketing campaigns than in the game itself.

The game was more focused on saying "there's racism here", than trying to communicate something meaningful about it.

>>387599227
What tips could you want? In MD you have plenty of tools at your disposal for it, experiment with them, it's part of what makes these games interesting. You can always use invisibility if you just want easy mode.

I will never understand why people dislike HR

It's not as groundbreaking as the original but it's still way above average. It allows you to create your own build from non-lethal ghost to commando. It has nice story and good side quests.

What else could you possibly want from an action-rpg that stems from 2001 Deus Ex?
>>
>>387599639
Then crossbow and gas grenades were the way to go in my last playthrough. The prod too, specially at the beginning when your accuracy is shit.
If you're replaying it, I would recommend GMDX, it's great. Otherwise just go vanilla.

>why ?
Because savescumming breaks up the game and is too easy. You will probably have to forgo complete stealth or non-lethatlity after shit goes tits up (and it will at some point unless you're extremely cautious) but the resulting rush from knowing that death can reset you to the beginning of the level is amazing.

I find that playing like this necessitates being more tactical and provides a more realistic image of JC. You also end up becoming better at the game in the process, I managed to easily clear liberty island on my first try, non-lethal, without any saves or reloads. Further into the game and the challenge becomes greater though.

>>387599828
>HR
I finished that like five times, I like HR a lot. Mankind Divided is worse in my eyes because it fumbles both in the overarching plot (I fucking despise people putting SJW and real world agendas where they don't belong) and in how abysmally optimized it is. I don't know if you're making a thing, but if you're not - Aug Rights Matter is an obvious parallel to real world shit.

I wouldn't even care all that much if the whole thing wasn't completely retarded from the ground up - someone made half the world go insane, something that is DOCUMENTED to not have been facilitated by the augmented people themselves, and yet a complete social shift still happens with augmented people being ostracized to levels of near unintentional hilarity. Mommy, I don't want to ride the metro next to the man with synthetic eyes, he might turn into Cyclops and burn us all down with a sick-ass eye laser. I suppose HR is partially to blame for the entire thing for even introducing that stupid-ass plotpoint, but I digress.

I'm surprised there were no concentration camps (Golem is close to being one, but its a cool mostly linear set of corridors so it gets a pass) for augmented people in Mankind Divided, because they felt it needed to be reinforced through every single thing in the game, including level design and loading screens.

There's more you can say about Mankind Divided's problems, and it's a shame because its gameplay definitely went in the right direction.

I really liked the addition of remote hacking, even if it borders on being a gimmick. I thought they'd finally have the balls to let you hack (properly hack, minigame and all) anything remotely, from behind cover, etc. - provided you picked the right upgrades.

I wish they found a way to let you play like you're the Major, just hack everyone's eyes and simply walk to the exit. It would take a huge amount of work for this to be balanced and reliant of the player's skill though.

Also, this would never ever happen because it's a multiplat and has to be accomodated for consoles, but I wish they had the balls to bring back the skill systems of the original DX. It's a fucking RPG after all.

It doesn't really matter since we already have DX1 and you can meet the clones that sprung from Jensen there, but we still dont know what happens to Jensen himself.

God prey was awful. Whoever decided it was a good idea for a spiritual successor to a game that gave you multiple powers right off the bat to delay giving you powers almost halfway into the game needs to be shot. Played through the game twice to see how different it was with/without powers, both times it was just running around shotgunning everything in the face, despite being on the hardest difficulty.

A Criminal Past is fucking great, easily an 8/10 IMO especially if you do an aug-less run. It's perhaps the only one that truly feels like a standalone "Jensen story", and not some exposition on things that should've been better explained in the main game.
I haven't played the Pritchard one (waiting for a better discount), but it looks more like a 5-6/10 to me. Short, linear, relatively little exploration, uninteresting plot.

>>
>>387604647
If none of them are, might as well not consider System Shock 1 or Deus Ex immersive sims either. Even Dishonored is more immersive sim than the first 2 Thief.

>>387605005
I'm assuming you refer to SS2? That game didn't gave you multiple powers right of the bat. You don't even have them at all depending on your class. And you can get them in Prey much faster than you do in SS2. Not that this makes it necessarily better, but what you say makes no sense. If you complain about the combat being just shooting is like complaining about Vanquish being a cover-based third person shooter. You can do it, but it's not how the game was designed to be played properly.

the core concept of immersive sims is the game letting you fuck around with the world and then reacting to it. This literally never happens in Prey. The AIs are all scripted to attack you on sight, you can't mess with them, there's no problem solving anywhere despite the very original gel gun that should have seen way more use.

It wasn't very interesting and it didn't mix well with a series where the overarching narrative was almost always about conspiracies and the elites fucking people in the ass. Being part of a bleak society where augmented people were ostracized kills 90% of the cyberpunk atmosphere to me.

They handled the Sarif Industries situation (narratively) pretty well in HR, plus it was obvious from the get-go that the Task Force that Jensen is a part of is corrupt, which was pretty clever on their part considering that people would just expect another UNATCO, but in the end it didn't turn out to be very engaging. Vega and Janus didn't help, either.

The whole thing is weird because while the "apartheid" shit is completely hit and miss to me, things like Jensen's identity and him possibly being a clone the Illuminati used for their own agenda is actually pretty well executed. That, and for example Sarif's bio information not matching his Human Revolution self. They essentially replace two well established characters and 60% of the players never even figure it out, THAT is impressive.

Mankind Divided is a mixed bag, basically. I still think though, much like Dishonored 2, its being shit on had more to do with technical and publishing things like length, poorly handled bonus content and dogshit poor optimization issues. Prey, for some reason, also suffers from issues that have 0% to do with the actual game, just the name.
