for reference this makes it roughly 8-16 days on foot in the modern day, depending on how many hours you spend each day travelling
assume terrain is much more treacherous though, and many detours have to be made, lets double that 8-16 to 16-32 days

you have to prepare for what could be a month long trek filled with raiders, radiation, creatures (probably nightstalkers, fun!) as well as sourcing food, probably some brahmin and bighorners to get a caravan together, fuel of some kind for whatever boat lays at the end of the journey, supplies to set up camp at your new location to hunt for the boat

let's be honest about /v/'s demographics here: /v/ is mostly comprised of children and young teens. What few adults we do have all have personality disorders that would only be made worse by a high-stress survival situation. I hope you know, OP, that at least half will spawn and istantly die in the divide. So if I am lucky I will "spawn" outside of the divide, try to find an old world map and save up some money doing farm work or something in the NCR or New Vegas (whichever is closer). Once I get a few friends, volunteers, and supplies together, I March to Area 51 and kill whatever is inside. Hopefully it is just some ghouls and at worst aliens. After that I will use the place as a fortification and build a town up from the ashes. The guns and ammo there should keep us safe from any looters or monster, if the ncr comes knocking I'll form a pact with them in. I'll give them old world machines and documents they send a couple of caravans my way and keep the roads safe.
