Now that the dust has settledwhat was so bad about the original version that they fired the director and scrapped that build almost entirely?

We don't know what happened to Shibuya. We only know that he was trying to make the game into a dragon age-inspired open world experience.
Someone realized too late that it was a retarded idea and decided to get rid of him halfway through development.

According to what? The earliest interview I remember reading about said that DS2's world was going to be just like DS1 but with more densely packed zones.

It would've shat on Hackizaki's games.

I enjoyed 2 a lot more than 3 at least. The PvP and the covenants were a lot better. Some would argue the games were never about PvP, but it's a better than their autismal fan fiction Vaati lore.

I don't know what, But there's just something I love about squalor areas that live in the shadow of actual society. Places like Blight town/The gutter that are just made up of everything that falls between the cracks of actual civilization yet still are somehow able to exist as a entity.
that's some shit box art

Original Gutter would've been even more of a shanty town than No Man's Wharf.

Dunno why they didn't just go with this.
I feel like so much of DS2 could be explained with one team coming up with a good idea and another going NO, IT NEEDS TO BE EDGIER
>gray scale back turned box art
>blood haze thing on boss intro
