Tell me /v/, what makes a good and bad character design? What are examples of both?
Good: Character looks cool and/or I want to fuck them
Bad: Made by Western devs
Opinions make them good
Opinions make them bad
When the design is too distracting, then I would consider it a bad Design. Shit like too much appendages, neon colors, or shit tons of questionable fashion statement like too many zippers or belt are prime example of it. The one you posted is a top tier design when it comes to a protagonist. Simplicity might also help make a good character design.
>good character design
recognizable, consistent color pallet, can tell what the character is like
>bad character design
generic, over-designed, shitty color pallet, confusing
Here's an example of a good character design

And here's a classic example of over-designed and shit
>>387568378
distinctive silhouette, good application of color theory and sacred geometry, design elements are relevant to the setting, the themes, and the context

>wants to fuck an idea
