I thought the game was supposed to be based around counterpicking and switching characters as the need arises. That being said Blizz seems to balance as if it was League of Legends, so maybe it would help with their innate Meta

By himself he was fine and balanced, but he got nerfed because of this.

say you're a dps main, if you're unable to play a variety of heroes from each category, or you're not even smart enough to at least get yourself someone who is a dedicated support/tank player, then you deserve the trouble you're having while playing ranked

I've always queued with a support player and we've gotten out of high silver(fuck kaplan for ranking me so low, I honestly felt bad stomping through there) into diamond in this season

You rank higher if you do well in placements as a DPS.
I lost 7/10 games and got ranked in high platinum during my first placements because I always had 4 gold as Zarya or Pharah and carried hard.

Got up into diamond quick too.

Next season I played Lucio throughout placements only and despite doing well and winning 9/10 of them I got ranked in high silver.

And yet it's the same comp every game on either side with minimal exceptions.

Overwatch should have been a shooter where you can pick any character and play but they enforce a 2-2-2 meta and still pretend switching on the fly is possible or matters.
