Mesa, in particular the RadeonSI and RadV drivers which are now the best drivers for AMD hardware available on any platform.
Plus LLVM, NIR, the Linux kernel itself, etc.

Development on those happens in the open and you can watch for the commits by Valve employees if you want.

They also have the services of relatively famous developers like Ryan Gordon to aid third party developers.

Half life 3 has become too much of a meme even to the devs that I doubt it will ever be made.

We got TF2 due to that. Imagine some huge amazing game to succeed it that they've painstakingly worked on this long to produce.
